When I first got the jacket a year or so ago, I was several pounds heavier, and while it fit, it was quite tight and unless I was wearing just a tshirt, it was almost impossible to zipper. Now, after some considerable slimming down, the fit is great(actually, a little big when just wearing a tshirt), and plenty of room for a bulky sweater, or, as in the picture, a jean jacket underneath. That combo was needed today as it's turned quite brisk in Northern California.

That music represents many years of collecting. Another passion.

Just awaiting a slightly larger Brooks Gold label in brown.
This one is a zip in liner version, without the zip in liner....

Likely asked before but anyone any ideas where I might find one?

Is this unusual for a brown Gold Label?
I have not seen this sort of grain on a brown. (and two rather different hide sides)

Was it bailed? I’m not sure this would come from regular wear.

I can't see heavy creasing I would think of from bailing.
And the graining on just the one side?

It’s the asymmetrical nature of the wear that’s unique. Different (poorly) matched hides might do that, but that zipper is also pretty wavy. The only other explanation might be a right-hand drive convertible in UK weather. Is it on the way to you? Should be interesting to inspect the rest of the jacket for clues.

I don't think this difference in grain between sides could come from wear. More likely different hides for different panels. I think it has its charm, I would wear it.

I should receive it mid week. It is a slightly larger size than my black (which is having a snapback renew). If it is a better fit I will move the black on.

The left front side has the beginning of deep grain

As does the base section


Old label with liner zip (newer stitching)

The hide is pretty heavy, more than my Black (hoop zip pulls), nearer to the 654. It's very waxy almost feels like a Horse hide.

If it's been bailed it was laid flat rather than balled up. I'm not sure if I should Pecard it or give it a steam (?)

It is a better fit for me than the Black older one so I think I will move that one on.

Hogging the thread - Sorry (bit chuffed with this)

Soaking up the Pecards and the heavy creasing is dropping out slowly.
I think I will try to find a liner for it.
