I confess that I have let go of a lot of bowler hats in this period, I hope not to sadden FL friends in love with this hat.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 9.jpg

Some were interesting, but the often small size or the exaggerated price kept me away from them.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 7.jpg
This bowler hat has two features that attracted me.
It is a G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro and has a pleated bow that makes it less usual than others
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 interno.jpg
Second reason it has a quite unusual size 5 1/2 which is equivalent to a 58 cm.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 etichetta carta.jpg
It is well preserved and is, unlike many of its companions, light.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 6.jpg
These are the measures, the curled brims reach 5 cm ; the crown is 13 cm. and the ribbon measures 3 centimeters.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 particolare fiocco.jpg
There are some small flaws such as a slight deformation of the anterior brim visible in the photograph. A very slight trace of dust on the edge of the brims.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 2.jpg
Many of you know that I don't have bowler hats in my collection, so anyone interested should write to me privately GB Borsalino bombetta 58 3.jpg
It's not like I find such pearls for medium-sized heads every day ;-)

It's a beautiful example and a great find, Daniele. A showcase of the craftmanship of the other Borsalino.

GB Borsalino fu Lazzaro bowler hat. Model is called Scutari. Size 58 with the brim at 5cm and the crown about 13cm (as far as I can tell). It has one of these sweatbands (in white) with the seam at the side, rather than the back. We've seen more examples of this on bowlers. No idea why this was done.
Great hand to the felt and the quality is excellent. The brim binding and liner show their age a bit though.

GB Borsalino fu Lazzaro lobbia or homburg in brown. Brim at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. This is not in pristine condition, because the sweatband is a replacement (is says Morreton Velrex on there) and it wasn't put in very well. I suspect the rather odd placement of the ribbon dates from back then as well. Still worth getting and maybe a candidate for future refurb to get it closer to its former glory.
The other Borsalino used placenames for their models, which helped to decipher the name on the label. I'm fairly certain it says "Darfo".

Stefan, for the great harvest of hats arrived today on FL you have answers in the dedicated threads.
G.B. Borsalino bowler, "Scutari" is the Italian name of an Albanian city. The bowler hats of G.B. are dedicated, a series, if I am not mistaken, to the city. Currently I have one, slightly different from yours, mine has a pleated ribbon which is called "Trento". The bowlers of the Borsalino cousins is always of great class, very light compared to others I have had, even if I am not a lover of this type of hat.

G..B's "Diplomatico" looks like a mixture of various poorly assembled pieces. Felt and lining are original, the ribbon, I have some doubts, the rest is obviously from another source. Very nice and deserves a restoration.
"Darfo" is a small town in Valcamonica in the province of Brescia.
You see that the tradition of the cities continues ...

Daniele, thank you. Yes, the labels did take me on a journey for a bit until I found out that they are indeed placenames. Still took me a while to figure out it was supposed to be Darfo though:)
The second one is very much a candidate for a bit of restoration, but it won't go anywhere until the current batch are finished by Fleur. I hope she picks up some speed somewhere...

I talked to Fleur last week over the mail. There is something wrong with her dad, so every hat will take a littlebit longer to finish.

This is the message from Fleur:

Hi Marcel,

Sorry for the delayed response - unfortunately no vacation, but something that is currently keeping my head away from hat making. My father has been diagnosed with metastases in lungs and brain, which are growing very rapidly, so the prognosis is poor and he has become needy very quickly. So for now, my focus is there for a while. I hope for your understanding that it will take a little longer for me to get to your hat, but if you would prefer me to send it back, that is of course possible as well.

Regards,
Fleur

Hi fellow lounger, this Borsalino's brother brand is new to me. As I browsed through the thread I found that they seemed to have been reproduced later. I am curious if mine is an original or a later one since all the labels or linings are gone. If any experiment lounger could help identify would be much appreciated

The sweat markings suggest to me that this is definitely an original fu Lazzaro. Nice find.

Dear Gentlemen,
after looking for years for original "fu Lazzaro" hat, two days ago I was so lucky to stumble over a nice brown Fedora I would like to share with you. It was on etsy and I know there were a few others interested in it. I hope I didn't "steal" it to anybody of you fellow loungers. If so, please accept my apologises.
I am going to list the pictures of the auction as right now it has not yet arrived here in Alessandria.
