Now that this one has been mailed out, I caught this one on the fly and made a fairly reasonable offer considering it's a size 7 - and the seller took it! It had seven or eight watchers, but it had not sold after more than a month. I suspect both because the seller was asking $400 and they had not listed it as a vintage hat. Some minor stains that should come right out.

Not bad, it will go well with the Churchill 100 box I got that came with a regular Shudde Bros hat from Goodwill a while back ;) Ouch! That one hurt, but this will bring down my average price. So I'm saving money. Ha!

Way to go Daniel! That’s one of the hats on my dream list.

I was actually watching that hat to document it. I thought it interesting that it is a "Beaver 100" but not made with beaver......unless the Vicuna hair is blended in, but still not 100% beaver.

BUT blends, I have found, make the BEST hats!!!

HOWEVER I am SURE it will be a wonderful hat and am look forward to hearing the report on it!!!
And of course such a hat is on my wish list too!!!!!
:)

The 100 is more for the $100 price point. We can’t know the blend, but it is a mix of beaver and vicuña. These are very soft felts, completely worth the long search.

The link above shows the Ebay seller, https://www.ebay.com/usr/sawinokur8083, sawinokur8083. I wanted to send a BIN price on a hat this evening and I discovered that I am blocked from purchasing. Seriously!

I did send the seller last year a suggestion as to the frequent pasted texts posted about the hats about "Dad" and the possible misleading references to other notable hats in the listing that I was reviewing.

Is this the reason I am blocked from purchasing? I do not know as I can not ask. Jeepers! Frustrating and embarassing. Truly, I am both embarrassed from being blocked from communicating as well as angry as I was discreet/respectful and diplomatic with my comments. It is from these reactions that I post this evening this disgruntled vent.

I have read the posts of others about this seller and empathize with the posters. It hits home tonight!

I am blocked from communications and even purchasing (I did try out of curiosity). Heavens!

I am really not certain what to feel about the state of this.

Thanks for the listen folks. Cheers, Eric -

He’s consistent if nothing else. If it makes you feel better I blocked him from my auctions/sales months ago.

I’m sure there is a long list of people here who would gladly buy the hat for you and use your address for shipping. If I’m not blocked too, I’d be glad to do this for you.

No one who knows you at all could imagine you being anything but a gentleman in your dealing with this seller. His treatment of you is just another proof of the quality of his character. I think being on the outs with such a person speaks well of you and is a badge of honor.

How silly of him. I agree with Brent in that You certainly do not deserve any treatment in that manner... and I second his suggestion if that was something you would like to do.

Thanks Brent. I am over the seller. I will take my business elsewhere.

Thanks sir. I will turn my eyes to other things this morning. My efforts, passion and time are valuable and I need not waste them.

Cheers.

Thanks sir. Protect folks who take advantage of others.

I will not go hatless. Ever. I take solice that my hat rack is chuck full of hats. Standing tall this morning. Thanks to all for reading my vent last night. I probably should not have vented. Sa la vie.

No it is more like telling the owner his Fiat Panda is NOT a Lamborghini........
The seller is in Japan. I think the exchange rate always hovers around $1US = 150 yen. Japan is among the most expensive countries in the world especially when it comes to international sales & trade. The seller is simply protecting his yen price. Perhaps Gary @The Shoe can weigh in here.

PS: recently there has been an increase in listings of Pendleton board shirts & Pendleton coats from Japan priced higher than from Pendleton, excluding Japanese only patterns & Models.

I’d bet there was a mistake in the listing by the seller or a currency conversion problem. I really don’t think the price is accurate and I’d bet it will be fixed soon.

Interestingly, I’ve seen vintage US hats for sale from Japanese sellers on eBay recently where their prices were pretty fair. Even desirable hats like Whippets and Playboys selling for $250-400 in good shape and in sizes that start with a “7.” I wonder if the vintage hat market is cooling in Japan?
