That's cool. I am still on the hunt for a The Few jacket but I have trouble figuring out where they have evolved to now.

BTW, Andy from BK did get back to me on my dumb questions,
To answer your questions, no we are not Japanese.
Yes, we make jackets for other Japanese brands but not the ones you mentioned.
No we don't have the same production schedule, we have deliveries all the time.

We made the Duke jacket maybe 10 years ago. It's an all time classic.

Anyways, thanks for the additonal info on the Few. The leather journey continues...
I have no idea but they are no longer active. Seems the last production was the A-1 made for Mushman in 2018. You may be able to find deadstock or 2nd hand the Few jackets at Gorilla Tokyo. Gorilla was the top dealer or one of the top back then. Though his website is difficult to navigate.

Thoughts about this Fidelity? I know some of the members have (and had) this model.

Did Fidelity supply well-made jackets? An acquaintance of mine offered me one and I don’t know whether to buy it. Long torso, right?
Thank you! :)
Here’s mine:

Well, this happened to my beloved BK Duke jacket today. Zipper tape tore right next to the teeth - no patching that up. Does anybody have any recommendations for zipper replacement services in the US? I could source a replacement zipper and try to find a local tailor that would be willing to stitch on a new zipper using the original holes, but I'm wondering if anybody has recommendations for people or places I could ship the jacket to for a reasonable price.

How many of you own two or more jackets is the same hide?

I’m thinking through my options on an Aero ‘Ridley’ remake that was originally done in dark seal Vic and I keep coming back to bb Vic for this jacket - even though I already have the Rockafella in bb vic.

Curveball is that I will still have a chance to buy the rejected dark seal vic jacket when it goes on the sale page.

I keep toggling between Mr P’s bb Vic and imagining it with brown thread, zipper tape and lining:

And this example of dark seal:

I haven’t completely ruled out Badalassi, but it just isn’t speaking to me for this jacket (would definitely go for it in a J100, personally).

I have three of the J106/Ridley/slimfit MC jackets in different hides and custom variant of pockets, cuffs etc - these are in black badalassi, blue vic and brown roughout goat - they are all nice jackets but the badalassi is the clear standout winner, followed by the roughout, then the vic trailing behind. See phots attached - all have mouton collars

Oops! I misread the question - I have three of the same basic model in different hides above, as posted (erroneously!) in response above. But to answer it correctly this time - I also have four jackets in badalassi..two black, one russet, one tobacco - see attached this time - sorry for the error!

I think lots of people here have multiple CXL or Shiniki jackets.

Guilty! If I like the hide I run with it until I run out of cash…

BB Vicenza is special because it fades to brown vs the rest of the Vicenza are dyed through In the same color.

lots of people own more than two black leather jackets. Some won’t even consider brown leather as an option. As long as the styles re different, and they definitely are, Rockafella and D pocket xzip, why not.

Speaking of brown leather, does anyone have any thoughts on which is the most supple and matte dark brown leather for a perfecto style jacket? Dark Vicenza Seal was a previous consideration but it looks quite light in sunlight and I am looking for something dark chocolatey brown that doesn't have a crazy break in period. :)

Maybe jerky, but it still sounds like Vic is what best fits the bill.

I second Dena, @iknowleather . She will use existing holes, you will not even be able to tell. And get a better zipper, this should not have happened, this zipper is crap.
Yeah, I intend to get a beefier zipper. Not sure exactly how the damage happened - it might have gotten snagged going through a TSA check somehow. Put me in a real bad mood when I noticed it for the first time, lol.

Dena is the best. She is one of my top choices for repair. Regarding the zip failure. It could have been the zipper or the way it saw installed. The metal in your zipper leads me to believe is a later model #5 talon. I had the very same type of production talon zip fail in a very nice aero and other "premium" maker's jackets. Personally, I would not use it on your expensive jacket. I find it a little questionable why a reputable company will use such zip in those jackets.

50s Talon #5 are excellent zippers and have lasted a long time in heavy LW jackets and some of my original vintage heavy jackets. Also, some zippers are not properly installed. Some zippers need more/less room to flex to properly function. This is a huge problem with the installation of the hookless type in many of the repros. The zippers are good. The installation is not appropriate. In addition to user carelessness, the hookless will be prone to failure.

Conmar #10 are excellent zippers that combine affordability with function. If you find them in eBay. Buy them. They are half the price of a crown. Furthermore, with a little practice, YOU can install them. It is not difficult. It takes time, but you save about $200. Many videos online showing how to sew leather on the net.
