Stingy brim -- and the crown (on older models, at least) can be shaped to suit. I have an old black Cavanagh stingy sitting around, that I refuse to wear. What size are you?
And then there are those of us who will do it as a favor to a fellow Lounger, for the price of the ink sac ($3.50) and postage. Let me know if I can help.
I LOVE 3-piece suits!
Haven't posted in ages, but simply had to brag:

Anything
IMHO, any color shirt will go with a blue suit (except black, and you should be careful with blue), as long as the hat/pocket square/necktie ties everything together.
I don't like to brag, but I took a shot on this one:

Arrived today -- an Oxxford suit...
I wear 'em on the outside, but the only slacks with which I used suspenders are loose enough that (a) they need suspenders, and (b) there's plenty of room for the buttons! On tighter slacks, I remove the buttons, because yes, they are annoying!
Old cotton/rayon ribbon
I have some in a light grayish blue. Give me your address and I'll donate a yard or so. Make your OWN ribbon -- it's frustrating, but fun and educational, and you can tailor it to get exactly what you like!
Charlie
As I've shared before, I find the crown of the Open Roads too high for myself, so I've replaced the bands on a couple of 'em with wider (2 to 2-1/4") bands, and am very pleased with the results.
Ditto - Akubras are GREAT! I have a Federation, and, awhile back I glommed two NOS Campdrafts on eBay (one was old enough to bear the Stetson Open Road label and liner, and somewhat softer felt!). Apologies to the thin-ribbon crowd, but I replaced 'em with wider ones . . .
The problem...
WIDE ribbon
Put a reddish-brown 2-1/4 ribbon (from an old Adam's hat) on a light tan "Open Road" (old stock Akubra) -- and have received quite a few compliments on it. Also put a 2" brown ribbon on a light brown Campdraft. In both cases, the wider ribbon (a) makes the hat look more thirties...
When I was at my heaviest, the only way I could alleviate the vent problem (OTR) was by wearing portly suits.
In any event, whatever my weight, I have always found that some brands/designers fit me, and some simply do not.
I haven't bothered trying to have a tailor re-shape a jacket to...
Rude?
Seems to me that the concept of "rude" is somewhat antiquated, no? How often do we see mens wearing their hats -- or more often, caps -- indoors, or screaming into cellphones, etc . . . But then again, I'm over fifty, too -- and so are my watches!
