    Dirty Montecristi

It's been a LONG while since I've posted here, but I have a big problem with my Montecristi that I hope someone can help me with. One side of the brim is really stained (both on the top and bottom). I am not sure how the stain got there since I haven't worn it in about two years, and it wasn't...

How many folk know their own country's anthem these days?

Actually, there are four verses to "The Star Spangled Banner." I actually know them all by heart, as it was required for entrance into a fraternity. There was no National Anthem until 1931 when Congress declared that "The Star Spangled Banner" should hold that honor.

How many folk know their own country's anthem these days?

I'd venture to say that most Americans know the "Star Spangled Banner". After all, it is played at every sporting event in country, and most people sing it. However, that being said, most Americans are probably not able to recite the words or sing it by themselves if stopped on the street...

    Screen Names...

Mine comes from my Club Obi Wan name, Band Director Jones, as I am a middle school and high school band director. When I registered here (back when it was on the EZboard network) it would not let me put in "Band Director Jones"; it said the name was too long. So, I just abbreviated it to BD Jones.

How Old do You Think She is?

Yes, radar was in use during the war. As to the pantyhose, I yield knowledge of that area to the women. However, weren't they rationed during WWII? If so, they were invented before then. This is a real conundrum.

How Old do You Think She is?

Umm, I think the age is incorrect. If the woman is 58 she would have been born around 1947-48 (my mother is 58). In 1947, many of the items were in use or had been invented. Television, penicillin, frozen foods, radar, ballpoint pens, pantyhose, air conditioners, dishwashers, clothes dryers...

    Briefcases

Thanks. I don't know the maker, and the only markings are on the underside of the lock which reads "PRESTO LOCK CO."

    Briefcases

My vintage briefcase I thought I would share some pictures of my vintage briefcase. I've had it for close to a year now and use it everyday. When I got it, it didn't have hardly a scratch on it. However, after months of constant use, and not really being careful with it, it is beginning to...

    Portable golden era vehicles

I was sent this link by a a fellow band director who loves vintage cars. It has some great golden era die cast vehicles, at some really great prices. If you're like me and can't afford the real thing, get a model for your desk and dream about it. http://www.motormint.com/index.asp

Flip flops in the white house.

Actually, they didn't until I was stuck on the committee to revise the handbook a few years ago. It used to be a very loose dress code. I'm the one who convinced the administration that a stricter dress code was needed in order to give our kids the ALL of the proper tools to succeed after high...

Flip flops in the white house.

In the district I teach in, we have a strict dress code (well, the kids think it's strict) that states that the waist of the pants must be worn around the waist of the body. Also, shirts cannot go past the back pocket or they must be tucked in. We even have a "no flip-flop/shower shoe" rule...
