That is a beautiful jacket. In my opinion Lost Worlds have a feel and appreciation for vintage style leathers that most other companies cannot match. They have a real sense of what makes for an authentic looking garment. Maybe only Goodwear have that same feel?
Hi, I'm glad to hear I helped you a bit in choosing the jacket. I really like the pocket closures, which will stop the pockets gaping. The lining I really like too. I've had colour transfer from my Route 66 to lighter leather covered furniture. I guess this may be due to traditional tanning...
Eastman B-6
Hi, I've an Eastman B-6 in 'redskin' finish. The leather is surprisingly thick and strong, no tears or other damage so far, and I've had it around 5 years. I purposely avoided the B-3 as it has one less pocket, and thought it would be just too bulky and hot to wear.
Think what would happen if you wore the jacket on a long motorcycle ride in pouring rain - then wore the jacket until it dried out. This won't harm a horsehide utility/motorcycle/military jacket. In fact they were designed for conditions like that. So do the same with your jacket. Why not...
Thanks for the info and ideas. I did not know about those dutch motorcycle coats still being available. I'll investigate further. I'm also wondering about a WW2 US Navy transport coat.
I'm thinking of something in dark brown leather, with texture and grain, but not too heavy, maybe goatskin. It must be styled 30s or 40s.
Where could I get that from do you think?
I've seen something at Lost Worlds, but it's a special order with no price quoted, so probably costs as much...
I hang my B6 up out of the winter season - A hanger is OK but it must be very deep at the shoulder, to spread the weight of the jacket, to avoid stretching.
