So the zipper on my raider started sticking. Contacted LW and they told me to ship it in. Send it in and a few weeks later get my jacket back with the zipper working perfectly. But here is the kicker: The repair was only $47 including shipping from NY to LA! Nice to see they stand by their products!
Schott is top quality but not quite up there with the very best. Still very much worth owning. I started out with a Schott Leather jacket a few years back but lost weight and the jacket does not have tightening straps so I sold it on ebay.
I bought another Schott, a beautiful suede jacket that...
I generally agree with your statement. That being said leather's incredible durability, ruggedness, and looks remain compelling to a minority of individuals. Also natural fibers like leather, cotton, and wool are better for the environment (though I won't pretend leather manufacturing is 100%...
The first thing to keep in mind is this: High quality jackets may be made of thick, medium, or thin leather. Poor quality jackets are usually made out of very thin leather. So in some ways this is a case of the classic logic problem where a->b but that doesn't mean b->a

Sneakers look a bit odd with a high end leather jacket, but I suppose it could be done once in a while. I usually wear leather shoes or boots with mine. Brown and black are both neutral colors that go well with almost anything, so IMHO wearing black boots with a brown jacket or brown boots with...
Regarding wait times, I think they are a little conservative but not excessively so. Demand for high quality, hand made, customizable items is on the rise.
Yep then you realize there are other makers like Lost Worlds, Schott, Lewis, and more....
Abrasion resistance is always useful although mid weight hides are more than good enough for casual wear.
Yeah, it's kind of like bicycles. Used bikes can be a great deal but unfortunately there is a very high chance it is "fenced" property. Serial numbers help somewhat. But with a jacket if there were such a thing it would be on a flimsy tag....
For most hobbyists protection by obscurity is probably ok. For Aero maybe a safe would be a good idea in the future? You figure a basic Aero is $1k... limited editions much more.
