The piece below is a Stetson advertisement and alleged to be an original from 1878. A friend of mine, who knows of my affinity for hats, recently remodeled his office, where this hung for many years, and decided that I should have it.

I'm waiting for the Chocolate Brown 6X Open Road to come back in stock on Stetson's website. I just passed my 20 year anniversary of passing the bar and that's what I picked out to celebrate, dagnabbit.
I bought a garage-sale Resistol cowboy hat for my first reshape. That's how nervous I was. I learned that felt is a lot more durable than I'd imagined. There might even be pictures of it around here somewhere. You did a great job!
It's here! The label actually says both "60" and "7 1/2" on it. It fits just about exactly like my Akubras did when I first got them, ever so slightly too large. I'll dig up something to use as sizing strips at the house and I'll be good to go. Thank you, one and all, for your help on this...
I've had it about 10 minutes now, so I haven't had time to photograph it properly. That said, I'm tickled with my first new hat in several years: A Stetson Stratoliner Milan in Cognac.
