Non-heeled loafers
I've been looking at photos of women in WWII at the shoes. Frankly, I've spent 99% of my life not wearing heels, and they're just not safe in Seattle winter weather. It looks like a decent thick/wedged-sole flat loafer would work. I'm mainly going off these photos:

They are super cute! I will say they are a little higher than I usually wear. I had them on about 4 hours-mainly standing and they were getting achy for sure. So they may not be good for all day standing unless you're used to 3 inches, but walking, sitting, etc they are great. I do better with about 2 1/2 inches or so.

I went a mall the other day specifically to find some heels for the fall and bought these at Sear's of all places. They were on sale for 30$. I think they'll be good for 30s and 40s looks, though it was the scalloping detail that sold me!

I don't go to malls or even chain stores very often (the nearest mall is about three hours from my house...) and I was shocked and happy to see how many vintage-looking shoes were out there. I guess they must be very "in" right now, because all the department stores and shoe stores had plenty of heeled oxfords and t-straps. I'm actually happy they've become so popular so I can get 'em cheap!
