I agree - I don't think I'd pay that much either - lovely as it is. It used to be that those prices were reserved for the more elegant evening gowns. These prices seem to be common place now sadly.

It is even more sad since online shopping was my last hope since Toronto prices are so high! I was at a recent clothing show in Toronto and they had an early 1940's knit dress there - at first I squealed when I saw it because I have a crazy obsession for knit dresses....then I noticed that the knitted buttons that ran down the front of the dress were all stained...like nasty yellow dark stains all down the front of the dress. I doubt you can get those kinds of stains out of a knitted garment, so the buttons would have to be replaced and the seller wanted $145 for it!!! $145 when I would have to risk the chance of permanently stained buttons or having to swap them myself? No thanks!

This coat pattern went for $36. I just can't justify paying that much for a pattern.

Gorgeous dress, but I can't see paying that much either. Sad to say, if they opened it to bidding instead of a buy it now, they would probably get more for it.

Gorgeous lucite shoes with AMAZING rhinestone details in the heels. I love them. I probably would have slept in them or at least built them a shrine.

Way too small. Like maybe I could have worn these when I was in fifth grade.

I hear you, no vintage shoes are ever fitting me. I've come to terms and I've got a huge inspiration folder so I'm going to try my hand at making a pair!

Was anyone else watching this?
It didnt go for that much considering how super duper hard to find these are. Im thinking because its from the 20s. If it had been 30s or 40 I think it would have gone much higher.

I am so sad about these selling, especially the hat and the dress, but I am determined to make one just like it. I just couldn't afford them now. The pattern was marked as a housecoat and sold for very little in the end.

Aw Drappa, those were beautiful items! I love the print on the dress (and yeah that necklace is great!).
I recognise that mannequin, I think I've watched hats being sold by them in the past... that seller has had some amazingly beautiful 40s hats.

I hunted down some fabric that is very similar to the fabric of the dress, but can't buy it until I have some more money. But then it'll be my next project.
The dress seller is traven7 on Etsy, maybe they are willing to sell that necklace!

I actually feel physically quite ill, looking at how georgeous those dresses are. I love yellow roses. My sympathies Drapppa. I may have to go and find the smelling salts now, or a large bar of chocolate, to numb the pain....!

Aww, don't faint! It is actually a skirt, but sold for $159, which I think is steep for a cotton skirt, no matter how great the border print is. Still, so pretty.

Oh, such lovely things! I'm sorry for each and every loss.

My tale of woe: I had bought some adorable, dream-come-true late 50s/early 60s deadstock hot pink high waisted clamdiggers while home on break in early March. As the weather has been too chilly to wear them yet, I put them in my "summer" drawer alongside my shorts and things.

I went to get them last weekend and they've vanished! Now, I live in a dormitory suite with three other girls, who regularly have big parties in our room full of people I don't know. After a fruitless search of my tiny cement-cube dorm room, I'm starting to realize that pants don't just walk away on their own and my beautiful pink pedal pushers are probably stolen :cry:
