Hi folks,

I was curious about finding a campaign hat that is similar to this one.

The only one made through the Scouts is a wool felt and I want a fur felt of course.

Any help i greatly appreciated.

I own a Stratton..

Actually, 2, both fur and the straw. They made them to fit my 8 1/8 head, and they have worn well for many years of use.

My son has an official scout campaign hat that is a couple years old that is a stetson. I had assumed it was fur, I'll have to look.

I finally lucked out! got a Stetson nutria quality campaign hat that was nearly NOS. It came from an old scoutmaster in nevada. I got it for $65 shipped! a quick trip to the scout shop and I got the pin and leather band, and now I'm yelling at my cub scouts to get that "puddin' pop smille off their faces" , just joking, when sent this to my friends, they all assumed I was a drill instructor :)

That is an awsome campaign hat! I have a question. I was in the boy scouts many years ago and was only in for two years and enjoyed it! Is there an organization like the boy scouts but for adults?

Secondly, I am interested in purchasing my first fedora for this upcoming Fall. I would like something classic, with a low crown, wide brim and that can stand up tothe elements or crushable. I'm not sure if a $69 fedora is just as good as a $100 plus fedora. I could really use a Fedora education!

Best,
Jerry

Hi

I owned a Stratton factory second from Levine's in StL for a while. It was labeled as a long oval, but inside the band was labeled as Wide oval, so I gave it away. Search on Statton hats, and buy from one of the police supply places, they're usually a little less expensive. One thing I dislike about the Strattons is the excessive plastic, four vent holes and two plastic lined slots for the chin strap. Otherwise, very substantial well made hats.
