Hello members

Has anyone got any expirence with Soul Revolver? They have a lot of positive reviews online and there vintage collection are priced quite well.

How do they compare to a company like Aero?

Any info welcome

They're more of a fashion stuff, definitely not as sturdy as Aero. 1.5oz / 0.7mm cowhide if I'm not mistaken? But, I really like some of their designs (that red CR) and I've heard mainly positive stuff about 'em. Few filmjackets.com members have their jackets, you should look it up. Seems like very nice jackets in any case.

Yep, what Mon says. SR makes most of its jackets to 1970's aethsetics using a thin fashion leather. They do make the odd bike jacket which to my knowledge have never been reviewed here. I like some of their patterns too but I would probably try to find a period example at at a fraction of the price.

I'm not into any of there jackets that featured in films, that not my thing. I noticed they have cafe racer models which are newer that feature a thicker leather but as mentioned I can't find any solid reviews on that jacket. For me it's more fashion, not a daily wear that is going to be beaten to death. On the other hand I would rather spend £600 on a aero jacket if it blows a £350 soul revolver jacket away.

Well, I don't think Soul Revolver makes by any means bad jackets or are not worth the money, but if you can afford an Aero, well, what's there to even think about? If nothing else, you get a custom fit - not that there's nothing else, of course. Seriously, I wouldn't think twice. CR in a lighter leather which you also get to pick.

I'm not really clued up with all these leather companies so I thought I'll check.

The best jacket I've seen is a aero sheene in the Vicenza seal leather, I think I will get one ordered as everyone sings the praises of Aero

I wouldn't say they use thin leather, at least not the jackets I've seen. If anything the leather was thicker that the jacket it was trying to replicate. Agree there is a 70's vibe to a lot of the styles and cuts they sell.

As you rightly say, they did start making some motorcycle jackets with armour and such at one stage, I read one decent review of one of those I remember.

I also don't like to think of 1.5oz leather as a thin. I have a jacket in that leather and sure, it's not Aero or Vanson, but it's not really all that thin. It's just normal leather.

That's a really corny name. I'd be embarrassed to have a tag on a jacket that said "Soul Revolver" even though it's on the inside

1.5oz is thin leather. Fashion leather. That's not an insult. This is a site where 2.5oz is seen as lightweight or thin and most people go for 3oz. That's the context of my comment.

I hear you and yeah, sure, it's thin by TFL standards but still, 0.7mm - 1mm hide is still relatively thick compared to the lambskin mall stuff, which can be impossibly thin. I often hear Brooks were around 1.5oz. And also, Vanson jackets appear like fashion leather compared to most German racing motorcycle jackets from the 80's. That stuff was crazy heavy, more than twice the weight of any Aero or Vanson I've seen (and twice as soft). It's all really very relative, I've learned...

While I still prefer heavy leather, I'd never say no to a lightweight jacket that I like.

I like thin/light leathers. Brooks is generally 2.5oz and I've seen some at just under that at 2.2oz. I've never seen or heard of thinner.

For me 2.5oz is as thick as I'd ever need in a jacket. Since I have never even sat on a motor bike, leather for me is an aesthetic choice not a safety one.

Heh. The Liam Gallagher line isspot on; it does sound like a name of a lable for someone with a serious fetish for mod fashions. (I'm always gently amused by mod revivalism, given that the whole point of the original was being fashion-forward.) Still, at the right price and with all others things being fine, I don't think I'd dismiss it entirely.

If you're looking a quality cafe racer, though, and not trying to stick to a budget, I'd go straight to Aero myself. Vanson also do nice ones.

I have one Soul Revolver jacket. I can say that the leather on mine is pretty thick, although I would bet their current/regular leather is much thinner.
Very 70s inspired, even the logo tag, as corny as the name may sound, looks cool with a hippyish design.
If you decide to go with them, be aware their sizes run really small, I am a size 44/46 and have this jacket in XXL.

Nope, Seb, 2oz according to Soul Revolver. There's the same style is 1.2mm, though, and it's the Motorcycle version of the jacket. That's actually 3oz, if I'm not wrong? But the red one is 0.7mm.
