I like 'em Michael. A little breaking in & wear on the waxed calf & they will make great looking everyday boots.

I have a piece of brown hide with the fur on it that I bought out of the remnant box at Tandy Leather for a couple bucks. It probably measures 18x24" or so & when I wear my boots with undershot heels I throw that hide down on top of the floor mat in my truck. The soft fur keeps the backs of the heels from getting scuffed up from the carpet as I drive & pivot off the heels of my boots. The hide does move around a bit & you could tape it down to the carpet but I take it out when I'm not wearing my good boots so the fur doesn't fill up with dirt & small gravel, defeating the purpose of using it to begin with. It works pretty good if you keep the fur side clean.

One of the nice things about a spur ledge is it cuts down on accelerator burn.

That's a great idea HJ , they'll be everyday Boots for sure . I always dislike the heel getting boogered up , especially when they're new , but its irritating even later on . Truck mats , or carpeted mats with gravel . Ugh .

Glad those worked Greg . Hey I got to thinking about the Old El Paso TL's and I think I recall 3-4 larger pegs on each side of the arch (instep , or whatever) on them . Am I wrong ?

My boots have been at the courthouse (with me attached) for the last couple of weeks. Got tagged for jury duty, getting tired of being downtown every day. Three flights of stairs and I try to walk a few blocks every day at lunch just to be able to get outside for a little bit.

The boots seem to be doing just fine...maybe better than I am. [emoji23]

I got tagged for what ended up being an 8 day wrongful death civil suit case a few yrs ago. There is a big criminal trial coming up where the jury will be picked from my county & sequestered across the state. My county is pretty rural so I'm kind of sweating, worried my name may be coming up again in the jury pool.

Michael, what you are referring to are the brass nails (pegs) some makers used/use in conjunction with wood pegs. All the big three do it though I've seen some early Nocona's with all wood pegging. Here's a pic of my late 50's early 60's TL's and a pair of 70's era El Rey's with three rows of pegging, two wood and one brass.

I had a 10 day heartbreaking wrongful death of a 16 year old civil suit against a doctor, we heard closing arguments today and delivered a verdict later this afternoon.

It was the only time I have served. I found the whole process interesting & I worry about some of our "peers" but by the end of the 8th day I was ready to be done. I would expect this murder trial coming up to last for a couple of months & the jury will be sequestered away from home.

My maternal grandfather died young when my mom was still a young teenager. She said he served on the jury of a murder trial just a yr or two before he died. The jury was sequestered for a couple of nights at a hotel built on the town square in the 1800's & it was still there when I was a kid. She doesn't remember anything more about the trial. I've always wanted to go back to the newspapers & see if I could find it but never have. Our little town was the county seat so most of the criminal trials from the county were brought there & tried.

I remember when Square Toe Boots with the rings and straps were popular (never owned any) (still not a Square Toe fan) , Stacks , and the Boots that had a zipper on the side (worn with Levi giant Bell Bottoms) . But then there was the TL crew , I think it was around then when the Bone with Lizard Tips were popular . I liked them and had a Pair . I remember a Blue , and a Tan Brown . Mine were the Tan Brown . ... 70s , Death before Disco ...

I think they've destroyed all the pictures of the short top Tan Stacked Heel with the zipper Boots , couldn't find any . I think Dingo , or Laredo made them , I thought it was Dingo . TL may not have made the Blue wing-tips with white lacing down by the toe tip , I recall . Didn't spot them , either .
