flattering look VS comfort which one more important for you?

For those of us more generously upholstered than Depression-era humans, I often consider it a shame that the denim companies never think to make a more relaxed fit at the original length. I am sometimes in the same position as you describe, but the modern version just looks immediately wrong because it hangs so very low. One of the reasons I've not owned a denim jacket in well over a decade.

I have to say that I favor a slim look that accentuates the waist. Since I lost weight and went down a few sizes in the waist I care a lot more about it.
I am a fan of the slim leather jacket look, slim or snug doesn’t mean uncomfortable though. If the pattern is cut for comfort there’s nothing wrong with a snug leather jacket, you can still move your arms, reach for things and even ride a motorcycle and best of all is: It looks cool!
Some jackets I have aren’t cut with a comfortable pattern for me and then others are perfect.
An example would be the Lewis Leathers MK2 I got (I will take pics this weekend). It is so comfortable in the upper body, chest, arms, range of movement but it tappers a lot and it fits snug in the stomach and hips, maybe a bit too much. I still like it and I could probably go up a size but the fit would be a bit more baggy for the style.

I have always loved (skin) tight denim (growing up like a thrasher here in Europe). As I gradually moved from lightweight stretch denim to heavy raw, I've realized that the heavier the fabric, the more relaxed the fit it has to be. 25 years ago I could never imagine myself wearing such a "baggy" pair of denim. If however my 25oz IH were skin tight then my thighs would probably bleed after walking 100m (let alone my balls).

Agree. The fact that we love leather jackets already says it all.
I don't wear leather jackets for comfort, warmth, protection or functionality. I wear leather jackets because they look cool and they make me feel like a million bucks. Everything else is just extra in my book.
A flattering look is definitely more important to me.
Having said that, the older I get the more I just want to be comfortable. It's about finding that happy medium between a flattering look vs comfortable fit. And it's definitely achievable, you just need to find the right jacket in the right size, with the right kind of leather that has the right cut for you.
Yup! Let's face it, if you're not used to it, a brand new thick horsehide jacket that is spot on fit wise typically isn't that comfortable. At least initially. What's great is that leather jackets and raw denim break in and stretch a bit and become more comfortable as you wear them.
And that's another thing. I think that you can get used to anything. For example, when I changed careers a few years back I needed to start wearing suits and I hated it at first. Felt super restricted and like someone was constantly choking me. But now I'm used to it and I love wearing suits and feel very comfortable in them.
I have this belief that when it fits really comfortable then it is slightly too big in regard of jeans and jacket.
I hear you on this and it's definitely true for many types of leather jackets, but not all, especially most motorcycle jackets. It's just the way they are cut. My old Schott perfecto is the most comfortable leather jacket I ever owned or wore and it isn't oversized.
I will not wear something that isnt comfortable. I have no problem breaking something in, but if your uncomfortable in something it usually shows. Its very convenient for me that i feel just about anything with a boxy workwear type fit i can usually fill out. One thing i find myself doing is adjusting my belt depending on what im doing. If im sitting ill loosen it up and tighten it if im going to be standing awhile.
