Unless in an intimate building (someone else’s house), or a church, etc., I leave my hat on when indoors unless there is a place to safely put it. If a restaurant doesn’t provide a place for my hat it stays on my head. When shopping etc. it always stays on. Some people people get confused with military training where the cover is removed at the threshold of most all buildings, but even during the golden age of hat wearing it was expected that your hat stayed on in certain indoor venues.

Face it; there's not a whole lot to say about hats that hasn't been said. if a forum is the thrive it has to rehash certain topics to keep the new comer engaged.

Shouldn't the forum be about discussions not research?

I'm here trying to cultivate a deeper appreciation for finer hats and learn more than I can locally. Plus it's fun!

I frequent Telecaster and Stratocaster guitar forums and while guitars a bit broader than hats most of the topics have been addressed ad infinitum! But even the umpteenth thread about pick ups can elicit a unique response along the way. Plus it tends to inspire new directions.

You should expect a site moderator (called bartenders here) merge your thread into an existing thread; this happens all the time here so don’t take offense.

If you stick around you’ll see that the same questions are asked over and over and we rehash information that adds nothing new. Most of the really knowledgeable members (a group in which I am NOT included), don’t even bother to address such questions. Here, many would strongly disagree with your discussion over research proposition.

I hope you stick around. We do need new blood, but maybe you might consider accepting this forum as it is.

Well, most of us have been through the process. My first six months on this site was spent hoovering up the information in all of those old threads you are complaining about. During that process, I learned extensively about hats, manufacturing, advertising, and various other things. Additionally, I found it pleasurable to read the personalities and their discussions. I gleaned knowledge from Members who are not around any longer, or who only now drop in from time to time. Many of those folks knew/know tons, and their knowledge is captured in their posts. Not to mention, after a while you recognize the progression in knowledge and evolution of some of the older Members here. It's interesting to see what some of the folks here, who we impart mucho respect for due to their knowledge, thought and proclaimed ten years ago, when they were still learning.

Unlike where you seem to be coming from, I miss those first few months here, when I was "drinking from the fire hose" of hat knowledge. There are still some of the older threads, such as advertising threads, that I enjoy going back over, just to reread the posts.
