Nice catch, Joe. Lazzaro is the Italian equivalent of Lazarus, so a good opportunity to resurrect the hat. Looks like the deal was already resurrected. There are clues that this variant of the resurrected brand was made in Canada by Biltmore, licensed by the bigger Borsalino.

I don’t often buy derbies but this Dobbs was in great shape and it’s a size 7 1/2 so I made an offer and it was accepted. Destined for eBay unless someone here wants it.

Your Disney had me thinking. Did Mr. Disney succeed Disney, or were they both offered at the same time, perhaps at different price points?
A wide brim Disney has been on my list for a long time. There are also a few around TFL with special finishes that always grab my attention. I can’t articulate it, but those Disney fedoras just have something very appealing about them.

When I was going through the Disney thread I think I saw the Mr Disney liners with the “stylish gentleman” was introduced around 1946. But they continued with the Disney hats after that time as well. So I’m guessing it was some kinda trim level. So you got Disney Hats, Mr Disney and I think John David is connected there as well
the other thing I saw was it appears the earlier Disney’s (early 30s and prior) were made by Dobbs or Cavanagh later they were made by Lee. This one I would guess 50s and sure does have some Lee hallmarks.
I’d definitely love to find and early Dobbs made one... but at the same time I’ve never had any complaints about any hats I’ve owned that were made by Lee.

I was under the impression that Disney Hats had to add the Mr. as the result of having been sued by Disney Studios over use of the name. It probably irked the Disney of hats because the Mr. (in my experience from scouring the internet for old buntal straws to convert) usually meant a male milliner, not a manly man's hatter. So it may have been "accidentally" left off of some hat orders to whomever was manufacturing at the time.
This is just speculation, however.
