The theatre group I used to be associated with had to do something like this once because the costume barn got infested with moths -- they couldn't sell or give away the infested garments, and ended up burning most of them just get rid of them. Maybe this was a similar case? (Although the "grotty old door" makes no sense at all...)

I read the OP with a growing sense of dread, knowing it was going nowhere sweet... but there is something strangely sinsiter, even cultish about this. They couldn't just throw the stuff away, or give it away, or sell it, they had to BURN IT!?!? Who burns garbage anymore, nevermind the things you listed.

Please write, say or do something; these guys are obviously nutty.

Right? Who burns garbage? And who doesn't say, "hey this is viable clothing, let's give it to charity" at the VERY LEAST!?

Just for burning the door, they should be prosecuted for vandalism and wanton destruction of historical artifacts. Stupidity and ignorance are no defense in the eyes of the law.

I'm almost speechless about this. BK, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I even like Scotrace's idea that they should be carefully and quickly beheaded. How (especially in a country that appreciates their history as so many Brits do) could there have been such collective idiocy within the decision makers of that group to have allowed that to happen? :rage:

it also makes me wonder if the burners went through the stuff and pulled some goodies out for themselves before the bonfire,

Did they throw some books on the fire too:eek: :rage: :eusa_doh:

Did the board approve what they intended to destroy before they destroyed it? If not, those who did it weren't duly authorized and owe the monetary value of their destruction back to the theater company.
