I agree. As long as it has enough ease for dancing, I say double check those seams for sturdiness and give it a go. I find that synthetics seem much more likely to cut through their threads than cottons, but it's best to double check before vigorous use!

I've worn my vintage dancing as well and with a good once over prior to wearing it, i felt fine about it.

I have re-sewn seams in many a vintage dress in the past just to reinforce stress points. But there is nothing you can do about thin fabric, especially in places like across the bust or backside, and under the arms where things wear out sooner.

Give it a good going over and I say wear it with happiness and dance the night away!

thank ladies I'll make sure I give it a thorough check; it seemed sturdy enough but then I keep finding holes in it - which I didn't see at purchase, in all that pattern, otherwise would have haggled more lol ! Also the top half is very fitted, so hmm...

I have found the Swirl dresses to be very sturdy overall. These were day dresses for ladies to wear shopping and doing usual homemaker duties back then. I am amazed any are found in pristine condition.

I'm not "passionate" about the time, but boy do i love me some hippies and platforms >_< lol
all my life my dad's been wearing levi's "big bell" jeans so [huh] along with jefferson airplane and miss joplin I'm rather hooked, though i think (I'm the only one who loves disco)
