I got my bottle of L'Origan yesterday. It's a modern bottle but smells wonderful. It really was a holy grail for me.

My favorite is Coty's L'Origan. I've been quite fortunate to find several large bottles of it around town at flea markets and estate sales. In the winter I like Je Reviens, which was introduced in 1932, and Tabu. It is a fairly strong scent so I don't wear it often.
I also like Emeraude, which I have been able to find very inexpensively at Walgreen's.

It's from Caswell Massey- the US's first apothecary...(they still make the cologne that George Washington wore!) But this one is divine...
Caswell-Massey heralds the richness of its past with an exclusive women's fragrance, based on centuries-old formula. ? Purchasing perfume in the U.S?
A while back I purchased perfume samples form The Perfumed Court (mentioned earlier in this thread). My favorites are: Lanvin's My Sin, Guerlain's Jicky, and Balmain's Vent Vert. These are impossible to buy in Sweden (they don't have many vintage scents here except for the Chanel ones).
Luckily for me, my little pop band A Smile and a Ribbon is going on a mini-tour in May with dates on the East Coast and one in Canada (click my signature if you're interested, more dates to come!). I probably won't have much time for shopping since we'll be travelling and performing every day, though we might have some spare time in NYC. We'll also visit Boston, Burlington, and Montreal.
So my question is: Where would I look to purchase my favorite perfume/s? Are there any chainstores that are easy to find that sell them? How about airport shops? Any advice would be of great help.

At the moment I'm really into Coup de Fouet, a Caron perfume that came out in 1954. It smells like carnation and cloves, and it's just a really different take on the whole floriental type.

I saw (and tried) Vent Vert when I was in Sephora in Paris. So, it is still being made. There are online stores like Amazon that carry it too.
It is getting harder and harder to find classic perfumes. However, some of the better department stores still stock some of the good ones. Sometimes though, formula changes mean that you aren't getting the same thing as the original, so to experience the scent as intended you would need to find a vintage bottle in good condition.

I am wearing Jean Patou's Joy today, but as spring/summer is just around the corner, I plan on ordering Caswell-Massey's Lilac fragrance. I simply adore lilac!

One that I've always wanted to try is Nuit de Noel, from 1922. The Vermont Country Store offers it but it's a bit more than I'd like to spend right now.
Currently my fancy-schmancy perfume (for special occasions) is Coco, from Chanel. It only dates back to the 1980s but after a sniff test, it was my favorite of all the Chanel fragrances.
I'm with fortworthgal: I also love L'Origan, the Coty fragrance that scents Airspun face powder to this day. I still have half a bottle (for the fancy occasions that don't get Coco! lol )
An oldie but always a goodie: Murray & Lanman Florida Water. From 1908!
(My every-day cologne is lavender body splash. From Kmart. Not very vintage! )

Actually Lavender body splash sounds really vintage to me. That is the sort of thing my grandmother or great-grandmother would have worn.
I went through a Nuit de Noel mania last September. I bought a bottle of it at a vintage store. I've seen it at mall perfume shops and online stores for substantially less than what Vermont Country Store charges. I don't think that anyone is counterfeiting this one so it is probably safe to buy online. I wouldn't do that with Coco Mademoiselle or No. 5, everyone is faking that.
If you feel that you need to try it, you can try buying a sample at theperfumedcourt.com so you don't need to spend a fortune to buy a bottle that might not suit you. Not that I can imagine Nuit de Noel not suiting you.

How old is White Shoulders? I know its not exactly Jicky in terms of tier, but I'm asking because my mom wore it for her wedding and I am pondering tracking it down and wearing it for mine as a spin on "something borrowed" - I don't even know what it is supposed to smell like, yet, (going to look it up on Google) but my mom got all misty when I said I'd try it.
