Hi guys,
I just had a mid-nineties Eastman A-2 delivered that I found on eBay. It's a size 40. I was a bit skeptical about the size, as I'm normally a 38 in almost everything else (including the Irvin flight jacket).
The jacket feels good on, with what feels like the right arm length, but it...
Update: I ended up finding a late nineties Eastman A-2 in size 40 pretty cheap (£250/$330). It looks like it’s in pristeen condition, and I’ll receive it in a week or so.
I am a little concerned it will be too big and billowy, but I guess I can always sell on again.
An update on this: I have decided to hold off on the purchase. The returns deal was unfortunately only available for a size 38 v1 Bronco, which I am beginning to think wouldn’t fit so well (and I can’t quite afford the full whack 40 right now). I am back and forth on this though. There’s the...
Very good point. From trawling on their website, I could only find info on the Bronco. I now see from your own posts the distinction between the two. I will ask Morten and be pushing for the first gen Bronco.
The slight difference: yours is 8718, whereas this one for auction is 8716-01-8243400.
Does anyone want to take another stab here at the age of the jacket? Is it with or without the side panels? I guess no side hand pockets is a good indication that this is one of the better Coopers, in terms...
Thanks for the encouragement and video. Yours looks great! You mention yours is from the early 90s, and there’s a decade where the quality is strong there. A post above mentioned this one I have mentioned here is from 2001. Not quite sure how that is detected, but what are the significant...
Thanks! I think they’re still a bit of a rarity in these parts.
I might take the punt on the initial Cooper. Hopefully I am happy with it and, if not, I guess I can always sell it. Even if Coopers aren’t your thing, it’s hard to argue with the condition on this one (if the photos are to be...
Thanks for that. This looks like a good fit to me!
I normally like a good fitted jacket and, based on your measurements, perhaps the 38 would work best for me.
I’m also wondering about the sizing, in particular that 20” shoulder to shoulder stitch measurement. That sounds huge.
I am slim, wear a standard suit 38 and 32” waist. My size 38 Irvin Flying Jacket fits well, but of course you have all that shearling.
Do I need to size down?
Thanks for the feedback.
It’s very challenging with these types of jackets. Here in Europe, they are a little less common. I’d like a more expected “fitted” fit.
I am kicking myself for not getting that Aero now!
Hey folks,
I am looking to get my first A2. I just missed out on a very sweet Aero version (it went for £330, if you are wondering), and am instead looking to get something a little bit cheaper to see if it’s the right jacket for me.
So, in walks the Cooper. I was wondering if anyone had some...
Hey Joel,
Thanks for the welcome! Well, perhaps workwear isn't the right word. More naval, military or heritage stuff. Brands of today that keep me curious would be Buzz Rickson, Aero, RRL ...
Hey guys,
A Brit here, on a US road trip with my dad.
Can anyone recommend good workwear stores in Nashville, or surrounding Tennessee? Looking for both vintage and repro.
Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for such detailed advice, Siggmund. I would say that the leather actually is rather brittle. The whole is around 1.5 inches and bang-on the back of the elbow (a space that would naturally cause movement/any irritation on the stitching.
The leather certainly needs to supple up. I like...
