Preshrinking before taking to the tailor?

What about just steam ironing them? Heat and some moisture...has to be even though. I think I've heard something along those lines but don't know where.

The SJC Clothing Thread - Show us what you have or wish to have!

Yes, the tweed suits. Everyone who tried to get away with tweaking a made to measure online offer to get a suit with vintage details can confirm that it is not easy and will most likely go wrong. Then you're out of money and have another half assed garment taking up closet space. I am optimistic...

Bandanas arrived last friday. Very happy with them. Silk feels wonderful. And the print looks like the designer has an excellent taste. :p

Pike Bros Sweat shirt and T shirt question.

I think Pike Brothers'stuff isn't made in Asia but Turkey. At least it's in Europe and they might pay their workers a better wage. The "made in the same factory" situation might apply to Ralph Lauren or Levis though which are as pricey. I haven't handled their sweatshirts but waistcoats and...

    Hair cuts

Boots, great cut and a tenner seems to be a good price. How often do you go? Once a month? I wouldn't change a thing

    Jeans 1930's style

There are some threads about jeans. Use google to find them (search term + fedora lounge) Freddies of pinewood does wide legged jeans. I think they are selvedge. Simon James Cathcart is a new brand you should look out for. Recently had a kickstarter. Then some reenactment repro pages offer USN...

    30s-40s British Workwear Influenced Style

You asked for working class. ;-) But he does wear a tie earlier in the movie. Note the shirt is buttoned all the way to the top which has a certain vintage appeal too.

Or knitwear. It's not recognizable in the pic but this is a button down shirt too:

    30s-40s British Workwear Influenced Style

Great thread. Yes, the swedish deadstock trousers are a cool and a good deal. While I am no expert on british workwear I've seen them in a number of french movies from the period. Jean Gabin seemed to like em. Also Albert Préjean in Sous les toits de Paris.

    Spear point collar shirts

Brooks Brothers? It's a random tumblr find but doesn't look bad. Vecona Vintage now have them too in white oxford and grey chambray.

Yes. A street market I've visited for years without finding vintage menswear though. It was pure luck.

    Show Us Vintage GERMAN Suits

I believe I haven't shared this plus four 3 piece suit yet. Rather similar to the scan (last pic) which is from 1929.

Size 38/39 1940s ginger tweed jacket

Oh drat. Went for a good price and could have fitted me. A bit too short though so it's OK. One inch more and I would have been really sad by now.

Warp & Weft wool tie, possible unicorn? advice needed

I hope you are not too disappointed but "rare" doesn't always mean valueable. Looks like a normal ca 60s narrow wool tie to me. Maybe newer. I can't say much about value except I wouldn't get too excited. It's probably under 15$.

    UK Vintage Shops

Found a pair of high waisted brown cotton trousers at levisions yesterday and they did fit me perfectly. Today I found virtually the same trousers at hunky dory for half the price and bought them. Same size same stamped tags. I think they must be deadstock from the same batch and possibly...

    What are you wearing today??

Thanks. Yes, I wear it all the time during winter. I also got some vintage black overcoats but since I wear brown boots on most days they don't quite match.
