I liked it far better before they "upgraded" their search to the pits it is now. Eebers gets really interesting then when you start delving into the "international" market, theres occasional finds say in the French, German, Spanish & Italian ebays, but the categorisation is totally different...
Well... I'm a bit biased I guess. I tend use the garage I got recommended by a "honest Joe" car dealer to fix my car. I don't see any advertisements in the local paper for him. So if its by word of mouth only it must be good. The theory being if you have to advertise you must be selling crap...
So if its "army issue" it ain't "korea" as there was a hiatus of A-2 1943-1987. If its "navy issue" as in G-1 it well might be if the collars real mouton. What you need to do is get the specs off the tag and these guys will provide a picture of the goats providing the leather... well... almost ;)
Most modern quilted padding are in the "scene" thin leather jackets, as in padded sholders. The "old skool" jackets that were padded actually has several layers of leather for the "padding" - these days you have CE-inserts, and some jackets liners and they have places acommodating these. But...
As are the UK sizes - XXL=48 and hats and shoes are one size off from the US numbers. German sizing is "easy" its just "add ten"... 42US=52 EU, but the wides and longs come either is A,C,D-sizing +cm chest or other weird numbering. Not getting into military sizes here. Problem is then be it...
I definitely *hate* when I get sent "something similar" instead of what I order.
Other pet peeve is UK/US sizing, be it hats, shoes or clothing sizes in letters they're all wrong... and then trying to figure out which standard your man on ebay uses. But its live & learn.
We've had a blizzard and -20C here and I've worn my G-1 without even having the normal layer of sweaters underneath. Definitely the thinsulate lining does the job. Of course its a "modern" cut, and I got mine baggy just to fit those layers underneath, but no complaints.... except maybe the...
As you cannot link to eebers, theres however taylorsleatherwear (that does the police uniforms) which sells their off-line stuff there. I got a thinsulated G-1 for... was it $53 + postage. One with hidden pockets but "bang for the buck" definitely. I'll dig a pic...
Found these cheap off the German eebers... apparently these are an USA brand? Theres a tag reading"SCATS" soles say "vibram". The soles were virtually "unworn", but the shoes had been sitting in an attic for some odd years so theres some hardening on the light trimming. Other than that quite...
Dang, I just got an ancient pair... "Longhorns" it says.
Would need to grease them up a bit,
they were in the garage with the other motorcycle gear a bit abandoned.
But for winter I scored these off ebay; German navy sheeplined "deck boots"
And wasn't France the "fashion trend setter" even then. I mean there are some *definitely local* trends in clothing, but say the "U-boat/Dr.Who" is a coat is a coat is a coat we call a "driver coat" and thats a horse-drawn taxi or an open T-ford era... nothing to do with U-boat and sea salt...
