    Are these shoes any good?

    Those sound like wing tips to me. Dack's was a pretty well-respected Canadian brand (I think it's belly-up). The shoes were made in Canada until the Canadian factory closed, and then the company sold re-branded British shoes. Many details here. Two bucks? If you like them, how could you go...

    Do you own a Tux?

    A. Sagner & Sons tuxedo I have a vintage Englishtown Clothes/A. Sagner & Sons tuxedo which I picked up for a song, then had tailored to fit. The jacket is unvented, single-breasted, single-button (which I altered to a faux link-front to gain an inch), peak lapel, with grosgrain trim. The pants...

    Congrats! When you helped me date mine, I didn't realize you were in the market yourself. I'm glad you landed one.

    Beautiful! I have a Champ thin-ribbon that's my everyday hat. I love it. And I swear I own the twin to that Marathon. I wore it yesterday with a jacket and tie when I enrolled my son in a much-sought charter-school spot.

    What do you do for Living?

    I'm a writer and editor - mostly a political columnist and Web editor for hire these days. Unfortunately, my career high--income-wise, at least--was probably about eight years ago, before writing became less of a professional activity and more of a social one. It's a fascinating phenomenon to...

    I can recommend Ron Zorn. He did an excellent job restoring a Parker 51 for me.

    Thanks! That's my Resistol Outlook -- it's one of my "city" hats that seem to suit me best on urban trips. I got some nice comments on it recently when I spent a week in LA.

    Very nice! It may only be April, but it's already getting to be Panama season in my part of the world.

    The Stratoliner Society {VINTAGE}

    Thanks! Now that I own one, I can certainly see the attraction of the Strat -- even more than I did when I was hunting one, that is. :)

    THE MALLORY MILE

    Thin-ribbon This one isn't marked as a Dallas, but it's similar to those I've seen posted here. It was definitely worn -- it had the vestiges of a center dent -- but it's in excellent shape. I decided that the original owner was on to something with that center dent...

    The Stratoliner Society {VINTAGE}

    Here in Arizona, thin-ribbons just seem to make sense. So I've been looking and looking for a Stratoliner -- and I scored. The hat came with a dry crease added by the vendor that popped right out. So far as I can tell, the hat might never have been worn. The pin didn't come with the hat. It's...

    Stratoliner and Mallory thin ribbon I picked up these two recently -- both in excellent condition. The Stetson Stratoliner arrived with a dry crease added by the vendor that popped right out. As far as I can tell, it might never have been worn. (The pin didn't come with the hat --...

    Stratoliner I finally landed a Stratoliner of my own -- a brown number that the seller says "looks to be unworn" and which certainly looks good in the photos. As always, I'll wait and report once it arrives. Sometimes, I really appreciate having a small head.

    ADAM ALLEY

    Try a good soak in naptha -- with some gentle scrubbing. I got most (but not all) of the green stain out of a Champ with that treatment.

    I have an older rollable Borsalino in taupe. I agree that it is wonderfully thin, supple felt. Enjoy the wonderful hat! (And the lounge, of course.)
