By all means, check out the Stetson gun club hats. The Dunn is a hat I have considered several times, it just might be what you want. Another option is a western, you can cut the brim down some and really change the looks. It isn't hard to do, just go slow and use a razor knife or a really good...
At one time all you really needed to see was the name Filson, I'm not sure that's still the case. They have become pretty damn pricey and a bit snotty. I certainly would pay 10 bucks for that hat though!
Anytime I venture into high end products I'm doing it to satisfy myself, I'm not trying to impress anyone. That being said, I don't see enough difference in a 200 dollar hat and a 1000 dollar hat to dig deeper. What I really enjoy is finding a nice fur felt fedora at goodwill for 35 bucks and I...
Thanks for the replies! The Ultralite appeals to me , maybe this coming spring, however a Strat needs to be a Royal DeLuxe or a pure and a pure is a bit more than I would be comfortable with. I have a Royal DeLuxe Strat and it is very pliable and actually pretty light.
It seems that Stetson now offers 3 Stratoliners, a stratoliner not identified as anything except stratoliner, an ultralite and a pure stratoliner. On their web page there is no mention of a royal deluxe and no X rating on any of them. Of course, we know the pure stratoliner is pure beaver but no...
No,No,No, you guys have it backwards! It's the movie stars trying to look like normal people like us. It's actors that are always playing a role, not us, we just do what we like. Most of us aren't trying to impress anyone, we're just buying and wearing hats that we like. Some actors [Johnny...
I am seriously considering getting dressed but I think a few more cups are in order first. This is a Mallory [Torino quality] that I made into a pork pie. My wife hates it!
They are still in business, I think it might be a grandson. Nice people and a good store. At one time they had a BIG hat factory in St Louis. They have a web sight if you're interested
If a hat needs to be stretched around half a size you will probably be ok with a hat stretcher. A full size or more and the stretcher isn't going to produce the result you want. You need it re-blocked, in other words completely rebuilt in the size you need. Unless you can do that work yourself...
I didn't know that Stetson was producing the felt in their hats. I was under the impression that Winchester in Tn was the only felt manufacture in the states. Someone please elaborate on this.
I hope you got an Italian Beef while in the windy, or at least a Hot Dog, or maybe a deep-dish pie. Damn, I got to make a trip to the windy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think he lived in Iowa. He was an older gentleman, rode a bicycle. He would post pictures of himself in various outfits. Sharp dresser actually and had a very nice hat collection. I haven't seen a post from him in a few years it seems.
A friend of mine grew up and lived his life in the bay area. When he retired, he moved to Idaho, paid cash for a beautiful 4-bedroom 2500 sq ft home. He is very happy there.
Not at all, enjoyed that Texas wind. We love the hill country also, but Austin is the most expensive real estate in Texas, Fredricksburg isn't a lot better.
