The Manhattan is definitely one of my favorites! It's a shame barely anyone at the local joints knows how to properly make one. I usually only drink them out when I go to the casino in the city.
Otherwise I enjoy a Rye on the rocks and even that is a stretch for some of the "bartenders"...
I've become a huge Guinness fan. And there are some very good variations at the local pubs that do their own micro brew.
I spent the summer trying all sorts of beer, I was in a very experimental mood. I really enjoyed the Hoegaarden Original White Ale. Normally I'm not a a fan of white ales...
Thanks for the comments and compliments!
I wore it out tonight and I think I'm going to leave the brim alone. I will keep an eye open for a vintage hat once I have some more extra cash.;) You guys were right, it is addicting.
NB - ya it's pretty stiff, maybe not quite cowboy hat stiff but...
Being in Canada shipping was $20 so that knocks the price up to $62, with the exchange I think that puts it in the low $70 range. So your price in the US will be better. I say go for it...most fur felts are a lot more.
I'm not overly experianced this being only the second fedora I've bought...
My Jaxon Iconoclast. I am pretty pleased for the price. I really like the look of the hat.
This is the hat right out of the box. I'm thinking of maybe shaping the front of the brim to be turned down more, but I'm not sure yet. I welcome your opinions on this.;) Here are some pics...
You'll have to upload your pics to a place like photobucket.com first. It's easy to sign up for, then you just put in the img tag in and copy and paste the link.
Hope that helps you Lee.
The pic of it in your profile looks good. It reminds me of the ones they sell as an Indiana Jones style...
Ya, it is listed as a fur felt hat and is normally $79. The $42 is the sale price, now that's a sale.
I'm sitting right on the fence at this point. Normally buying a new hat from the US would cost a lot more but the Canadian dollar is worth $0.90 US right now. It kind of sucks for all you...
Hi once again all,......yes I have another question.;)
I ran across the Jaxon Iconoclast fedora at the village hat shop web site, it's on sale for $42. (plus $20 shipping)
I searched the forums and I found that at least a couple of you have this hat. Is it a good value, decently made...
Cool! The reason I brought it up is because I really don't see anyone around my area wear them. Even when I go to the city and the more classy dives, everyone's sense of style and class seems to be the $29.95 Sears special shirt. What the hell is that!
I see the odd person on TV wear them...
Is there anyone here that likes to wear a French cuffed shirt with their suit?
I'm really starting to like the look of them. Maybe it's a little too much of a gangster look for some. But I think a nice striped shirt with that plain white collar is a different but nice look.
Magus- thanks for that post. I was kind of leaning towards the beater fedora and that's a pretty good sales pitch.
The reason I was thinking of the oil canvas or wax cotton, like the one Serial Hero mentioned, was for those really wet days. But really I think a fedora is more the answer...
