I am looking to buy a canvas windbreaker (or maybe nylon, depends on what you have and whether it looks good). I would like something that has a really strong taper to it, as I have a 10 drop to my waist, and most things look like a sail on me.
My size is 40l, or somewhere in that...
I have a black homburg that doesn't suit me very well.
And I would like to trade it for another homburg (preferably black), something more along the lines of a St. Regis. The crown is a bit too full for me (never thought I would say that) and it would suit someone else's face much better...
Is anyone in here working on creating an ideal physique? It certainly has its Golden Era precedent (some might even say pinnacle.)
I am currently working on trying to build a more aesthetically pleasing physique. As y'all know from my pictures, I am skinny. Now I am looking to be lean but...
Our own Sproily was featured in a stylish men of the year list on the Fine and Dandy blog, which was in turn featured on at least one prominent menswear blog. We might be trending.
So, largely due to budget constraints but also for fun, I have been experimenting with the odd cuts of meat, especially pork. So far I have had fantastic results by putting trotters in my spaghetti sauce, and I have been using salt pork in various applications.
Any ideas for what to do with...

I would really like to find the name of this song, but couldn't catch enough lyrics to make a coherent search on the interwebs. I know it is a decently well known song, but I can't put my finger on it.
You also get to watch me doing some mediocre...
So, I saw this video, most of you will probably hate the style of the music, but you ought to get a kick out of the song anyway.

I picked up three caps on ebay, and only one of them fit me. So, here are the other two, for y'all to buy and enjoy. $8 for one or $10 for both, shipped. Paypal seems to me to be the best payment option.
Unnamed, looks to be older, due to the union tag, but I really have no clue. It is size...
This worked really well in Hats, and I think it could work really well here to have a localized place to ask questions which would get short answers.
I have a quick question, what would you consider Cocktail Attire? I know this can range from suits to tuxes, and I am curious what you would...
Just out of curiousity (that and my novel for National Novel Writing Month),
How would a young bachelor have done his laundry in the 1920s?
For that matter, when were laundromats started? Dry Cleaning? Home washing machines?
Well, this is not strictly Golden Era, but Maxim Mironov might just well be the best tenor since the Golden Era, certainly up there with the greats as a Leggiero tenor.
and in this first video, he is only 22 years old.

The ladies have this really cool thread going over in the Powder Room (keeps popping up in the New Posts) of what they looked like before they got into vintage style, and what they look like now.
I didn't see anything like that for the gentlemen, so I figure we can have one too.
Now to...
I was in a market in Budapest, and a lady took a picture of me with a very professional looking camera (it had a lens that seemed a foot long) and then said in faltering english that she took the picture because of my hat, and generally my outfit.
So, my question is this: is anyone familiar...
So there are numerous threads on Adam Savage's hats, but Jamie often wears a really nice leather jacket, and it has yet to make an appearance here. I was wondering if any of you gents know what it is, and or have any thoughts on it.
I couldn't find a picture, because my google-fu is not very...
I have been keeping an eye out for a good deal (read great deal, I have no budget) on a vintage hat, or maybe thinking of getting an Akubra, but I am not quite sure what I should be looking for. Lately, due to seeing some great hats here, I have been thinking about getting an open road style hat...
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Parkleigh hats. I have stumbled across them, but I couldn't find any previous threads on here on the subject.
I did find a Gimbels ad in a 1929 issue of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette which refers to them, but I would love some more info.
I am going to be in Rome for much of this summer, studying Italian, after doing some singing in Budapest, and I am looking for a hat to take with me. Unfortunately, being a broke student who spent all his money on a trip to Rome, I am on a very strict budget.
I am not looking for particularly...
I was just talking to my grandmother (who was born in 1928 or 29) recently, and I found it interesting to note that she said that her father and older brothers never wore hats, at least that she knew. Also, apparently my grandfather never wore a hat either. He fought in WWII, so I would have...
A while back I picked up a gray wool DB jacket with peak lapels and chalkstripes. It fits wonderfully and I think it looks rather smart, but I am at a complete loss as to what trousers to pair it with.
Here are a few pictures so you can see the jacket, the material and me.
