A new Traveller in Sand arrived last week, my first Akubra purchase since 2011, so figure it's a good time for my first post here in nearly as long. Took it on a trip to a rainy Amsterdam at the weekend and very happy with it. A welcome addition to my Akubra collection of two Stylemasters, two...
Yes, this photo from T Rick in the 'HERITAGE grade Akubra Campdraft in Silver Belly Campaign' thread has me almost convinced to go for the Bluegrass Green CD. Love the colour!

Plus probably best not to try my first attempt at bashing on an expensive Heritage grade hat.
Thanks guys. Yes, had the three month wait for both hats. The nice thing though when you pay up front is that it is almost like getting a hat for free when it eventually arrives.
Which must be why I spent hours reading the Akubra Campdraft thread today. Thinking of getting my first open crown...
Received two new additions to my rapidly expanding Akubra collection today courtesy of Everything Australian.
Firstly a Banjo Paterson in Graphite Grey. It's a very hard colour to photograph - it looks black under many lighting conditions, but this is the closest I could get today.

I have four Akubras all in size 58 and have found that my two Stylemasters were the snuggest fit when they arrived - to the extent that if they had shrunk any, they would have been too small. Happily that hasn't proved to be the case. On the other hand, I had to initially put padding in my Banjo...
Thanks monbla256, I think I'm going to enjoy this hat. I've looked at DM before, unfortunately the cost of shipping from the US just doesn't make it feasible financially compared with going direct to source country. But I regularly check out prices and exchange rates just in case.
I know from...
Thanks, though my reason for getting the Cattleman was because the weather was warming up...which is of course a relative term depending where you live (75-80F would be considered a scorcher here). Because it's not lined and has eyelet vents I'm figuring it should be cooler than other felt hats...
My new Cattleman in fawn arrived yesterday.
Very happy with it. Fitted perfectly out of the box. It's a bit darker in colour than it shows on most of the websites but I like it. Very hard to get the colour right in photos though - it's a darker brown than it shows in the above image. Here...
My Akubra-itis returned with a vengeance this week, it had been lying low for a while, but it is nearly impossible to shake off this sickness completely.
In fact this was a very bad relapse - I placed an order with EA for no fewer than THREE new Akubras. A Cattleman in Fawn is winging its way...
I wouldn't be so negative about them. I developed my interest in hats through a chance acquisition of a Kakadu leather hat I picked up at a country fair, and although I don't wear it that much now I couldn't really fault it. OK, its a bit heavier than fur felt, but I never found it to be a...
There was a thread on here recently about what a nice place this forum is and how friendly and helpful people here are. To try to put some perspective on that, I feel very saddened this morning on reading that Colby Jack has passed away. It might seem strange considering I never met him, never...
Thanks for that, I must look at the Stockman again. The dimensions are perfect - I have a Banjo Paterson which has the same brim width and is a great all-round hat - large enough a brim to give good sun protection without appearing too huge.
What put me off the Stockman when I looked at it in...
Yes, I did notice that discrepancy on the brim size and I agree that it could totally change the look of the hat. So from the feedback you got from Hats Direct it would appear 79mm is closer to the correct width. Not a million miles away from the Cattleman's 83mm brim, but still enough to make a...
Jackaroo?
Is anyone here familiar with the Jackaroo? It doesn't appear on Akubra's own website but both Everything Australian and Hats Direct offer it. Seems to be very similar in style to the Cattleman but with a slightly smaller brim and lined. And it doesn't have the air-vents of the...
Thanks Neo, yes I do suspect I have a long oval head looking at how the Banjo Paterson has conformed to my shape over the past few months. I am considering the stretch over the knee technique if they do get tighter, but hopefully they will do their own conforming with a bit of wear.
New Stylemasters
My new Akubra Stylemasters in Acorn and Moonstone Grey arrived from Hats Direct in time for Christmas. :eusa_clap
Great hats, love the style and the colours, both of which are quite chameleon like depending on light conditions. The Moonstone has the standard white lining but...
Another Lounger here waiting for a Stylemaster delivery from Hats Direct - only because I couldn't decide between an acorn fawn or a moonstone grey I went for both! They're en route so hoping to have them before Christmas. Well it is a time of giving isn't it!:p
