Akubra sizes: true to the numbers?
I have four Akubras all in size 58 and have found that my two Stylemasters were the snuggest fit when they arrived - to the extent that if they had shrunk any, they would have been too small. Thanks, though my reason for getting the Cattleman was because the weather was warming up...which is of course a relative term depending where you live (75-80F would be considered a scorcher here). Because it's not lined and has eyelet vents I'm figuring it should be cooler than other felt hats...- Panda Moanium

My new Cattleman in fawn arrived yesterday. Very happy with it. Fitted perfectly out of the box. It's a bit darker in colour than it shows on most of the websites but I like it. The dimensions are perfect - I have a Banjo Paterson which has the same brim width and is a great all-round hat - large enough a brim to give good sun protection without appearing too huge. Yes, I did notice that discrepancy on the brim size and I agree that it could totally change the look of the hat. So from the feedback you got from Hats Direct it would appear 79mm is closer to the correct width. Thanks Neo, yes I do suspect I have a long oval head looking at how the Banjo Paterson has conformed to my shape over the past few months. I am considering the stretch over the knee technique if they do get tighter, but hopefully they will do their own conforming with a bit of wear.- Panda Moanium
