Stitch Awl Tutorial - Sweatband Installation

Wow, thanks Bamaboots! I totally missed that tutorial in my searching. I prefer a sharpened McKay stitcher, so I think it'd do the job. I usually use it for lock stitching shoe uppers to the soles.

Stitch Awl Tutorial - Sweatband Installation

I have a vintage hat that I love with a very dry and cracked sweat band. I would like to replace it. I am confident I can remove the hat band and sew in a new leather sweat band. I might even be able to make one (I work with leather a lot.) However, having never made one nor sewn one in...

This time it's my cat on the internet and of course it has good hat taste.

I think she was mad at me for putting the hat in 'her chair' and she was pretending it wasn't there while occasionally checking that I was seeing her indignation.

This time it's my cat on the internet and of course it has good hat taste.

It's what I get for tossing my lid onto a chair rather than putting it away when I got home last night. The cat hair on the hat was worth it.

    Hatbox Homage

A while back I got 3 new hats at an antique shop. One of them was a woven Stetson from Block's of Indianapolis from the mid to late 50's. Yesterday I was in a different antique shop and found this Wm. H. Blocks. Co. hatbox in great shape. Fits perfectly!

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Thanks! Posted in a link by John Pennman the other day. "The Ivy cap, or flat cap, is similar to the newsboy, only without the floppy 8 panels and the button on top. This style, which traces its history from Southern Italy, Northern England, and parts of Scotland, also wins the awards for the...

    Post New Hats Here!

Thanks all! I saw these three hats for $20 each in my size and I snatched them up. I'll get the other two posted soon. As for this Stetson, I think this hat may have some age on it. I was looking around the band for any other markings, union tags, or clues and found a tag with a lot #30...

    Post New Hats Here!

I just got three hats from an antiques store. Two Panama style straws and a felt pork pie. I will post all three shortly. Here is the first. A Stetson straw in my size. Pretty good condition; clean and flexible, still has some stiffness to the brim and a clean hat band. The band is not...

Me and my panama this last weekend at the park with the family. I love this picture of me and my daughter. The hat was just a nice addition. :)
