    Good Deeds: Done Any Lately?

My friend's son is 4 months old, she didn't have the money to buy a bumbo seat for him. Instead of him laying on the floor all the time, I bought one for him off ebay..I said that I'd be getting one for my-self when the baby arrives anyhow so she can just use it for her little one first. I...

Toys not to get your kids

Thats alot of ipads, and alot of money. I think sometimes when a family has a disposable income that can sustain such expensive gifts its hard to draw a fine line between what's appropriate and then whats just plain extravagant. Some people like being the latter though. For example, some...

Toys not to get your kids

I think you are right in that by comparison to the older series, the newer episodes have the technological means to deliver better special effects. There are some epidsodes perhaps scarier than others also. Dr Who isn't a children's show, it is a family program. One to be watched (or vetted as...

Toys not to get your kids

My husband is the ultimate tech head shall we say and which is why he would think nothing of buying him an ipod touch. Our son has always been around technology and has a natural ability like his father with it too. Something that will in time be allowed to develop. But to start with I want for...

Toys not to get your kids

My husband wanted to buy our 5 yr old son an ipod touch (to my sheer horror) instead I decided on a pop up pirate game, a marble run (a nice sized one) arty stuff crayons and suchlike and a Dr Who doll/figure.... ipod seriously....I think not

    Old fashioned names new again....

Don't know if I mentioned already but Elspeth (hate the name Ellie though its such a cop nickname for more elegant longer names)

    Old fashioned names new again....

I adore Basil! Not sure if he'd get a rough time in the playground though...if he attends the same school as my other son its a pretty genteel sort of playground...I am sure it would be okay-ish.. WILBUR came up recently...Wilby Wilb...Wilbo...

What makeup are you wearing today?

I switched recently to YSL foundation (from Dior Forever) with the YSL one you get a really nice built in brush that the foundation is applied through, rather snazzy I thought! Some touche eclat... great for a mum on a school run...lol.. ysl mascara (same as before)

    Old fashioned names new again....

I'm expecting... I did a search but I didn't find any-thing already, hopefully I'm not going over old ground I just found out that I'm expecting, we're over the moon. I was wondering if any-one could suggest any names boys/girls that are vintage/traditional/classic/quintessentially...

What Is The Strangest Thing You've Ever Seen?

I was travelling across London on the underground, something I did lots when I lived at home. I was about 19 at the time, and I was trying to get home as quickly as I could, I got on the train and the carriage was eerily empty except this old couple they looked rather well dressed as if they...

    Good Deeds: Done Any Lately?

This is going to sound nuts, but a long time ago I had had to go to a job interview, it rained on me as I walked to it and by the time I got there after getting lost I'd missed it. I trudged home rather peeved wondering why on earth I'd had such a bad day when I spotted a young guy mid 20s stood...

    Good Deeds: Done Any Lately?

Mine is in the form the the Pay it forward theme I guess. Growing up I didn't have it very conventional. After my mother passed when I was a child, I was shifted from here to there and I was raised eventually by a close relative. It was difficult for all parties. To cut a long story short. I...

    Nutty Neighbors

I have a neighbour who when my son was 3 went through a phase of lobbing his toys over the garden fence. I'm talking light plastic skittles, balls, buzz lightyears and woody dolls. She came knocking on my door brandishing a black bin liner of toys, she said she had been collecting them up for 2...

    The Wifely Duties

I'm in no way trying to cause friction....I am only saying that perhaps it wasn't that she was coddled. You mention you were lucky enough to have your Mum show you every-thing you needed to know. Even the boring bits. Some of us don't have the opportunity. Its actually really incredibly...

    Ghost stories please..

We were at my friend's place yesterday, we were all round cheering her up because her mum passed away 4 weeks ago.. It was say gone 12 ish, and we were all up having a bottle of wine. My friend was feeding her 6 week old with a bottle of milk she had just made when someone suggested if they...
