I recently came into possession of a dark blue wool overcoat with peak lapels that I think is from the thirties. The union tag looks like the '36 or '39 edition, but it is date is illegible. The buttons are hidden by a placket, which strikes me as unusual for the time period, this not being a...
The newer 30's style high crowned Stetsons look really good, especially since the arrival of Matt Deckard at Stetson. Does anyone know of a good place to buy them in the Los Angeles area? There's a hat shop in Pasadena that has a bunch of Stetsons but they are awful and don't look anything like...
I need to pick up a pair of suspenders, but I've always seen too different types. There's the sort with two leather straps at each end that form a sort of Y shape, like so: http://www.darcyclothing.com/shop/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/b/r/br734l.jpg...
I've recently gotten some 1920's and 30's jackets that would go well with contrasting trousers. I'm thinking of having a pair of 1920's trousers copied, once in cream and again in light gray for a second pair. For the cream, flannel of course, but what about the gray pants? I've seen many...

Just my size, but I've got other clothing priorities at the moment so I can't spend $300 on this.
I'm going to the Vintage Fashion Expo in Los Angeles for the first time this week. Weekend tickets are $17, but for $30 the advance tickets will get you in 90 minutes early.
To anyone who's been to these before, how quickly does the good stuff sell out? I'm going mainly to look for 1920's-30's...
Anyone think this could pass for 1920's or early 1930's? The waist suppression looks good, but I can't tell if the waist and button stance are too low. Also, don't know about the shoulders...
I'm curious to see if there are many other FLers who are interested in Japan and Japanese culture and society, particularly in the 1910's up through the Golden Era (Taisho to early Showa periods, 1910s to 30's).
I know some folks had posted on here regarding Japan a few years ago and the...
Just lost in this auction
http://www.ebay.com/itm/231117928368?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
If the buyer is on FL, would you be interested in selling it for more than you paid for it?
Also, anyone have any leads on anything similar?
Thanks.

Thinking of going for this one, but I more prefer the 1930's look to 1940's. You guys think this could fit into a 1930's ensemble? I generally try to avoid the straight-up 40's "bold" look.
The seller listed this suit as 1930's. The auction ends soon and I'm thinking of making a bid. It seems weird, however, that a suit from the thirties would have a zipper instead of a button fly.
What do you guys think...
Having recently bought my first ever detachable collar shirt, I was on the hunt for more stiff collars. Then, on Etsy I came across what I thought was the amazing find of a box of eleven dead stock Arrow collars. The only problem is that after a hundred years or so in a cardboard box and tissue...
I am planning to invest in a tunic shirt and some detachable collars. Given that you add 1/2 inch to the tunic shirt's neck size to determine the proper collar size (e.g. 15" tunic shirt with a 15.5" collar), which of those measurements should correspond to the wearer's neck size?
If I...
I realize that this forum is mostly dedicated to 1920s-40s fashions, but I wonder if anyone can help me. I've always loved the various forms of the "sack suit" from the late 19th to early 20th century, particularly the 3-or-4-button black jacket with black or gray vest and trousers look. Of all...
