wool felt / fur felt difference

Though they aren't fur, there are some wool hats that are very nice. I have a Stetson Hammer crushable western hat that not only wears great, but looks great too, and I would recommend those hats to anyone.

    LBJ Library Hat

I had a Stetson Open Road that was made in the early 60's, and it was nice and soft, not like today's with all the stiffener in them.

I do not believe you can, you may damage it. They are what they are, if you want to have a different shape and brim, get another hat.

    Baseball Caps (in moderation)?

I wear ball caps as often as I do my fedora and cowboys hats. I find them comfortable and they do the job intended whether it's work or play. I believe they look good on me and help to round out casual attire, whether backing my favorite teams or just working and doing chores.

Looking for a hat like Lee Van Cleef wears...

My wife found a Resistol Quicksilver for $15, I plan on taking it to Major Mike's and having Rocky shape it to a Vaquero style, much like the Van Cleef hat. Those hats are fine and you can get one reasonably on the bay, send it to Mike to shape, put a new ribbon on it, and you will have a first...

Looking for a hat like Lee Van Cleef wears...

Find a used felt cowboy hat and have it reblocked and shaped, cost about $40 to $50 for the reshape & block, find a good stetson or resistol on the bay for a great price.

    Reshaping a wool Fedora

Stetson Wool Crusher I have a Stetson wool crusher and it is an XL, but a bit tight. I am wondering if it can be stretched and if the leather hat band is what may be keeping it tight. I love the hat.

The latest issue of American Cowboy Magazine has a good story about Hatco, focusing more on their Resistol line of Western Cowboy hats.
