    Learning how to tailor?

Thanks for all the further ideas gentlemen. I'll take them all into consideration. Last night I found my school library has a few old books on tailoring: -"Minor and major alterations and how to make them" by Mutolese, Michael. (1950) -"Tailoring suits the professional way" by Poulin...

    Learning how to tailor?

That's an idea. I would like some sort of hands on instruction, but the issue is I am at college for the next 3 years (limited hobby time), and after that I will be on Wall Street with zero spare time, haha.

    Learning how to tailor?

Hi everyone, I was thinking to myself tonight, if there's one hobby that would be awesome, it would be tailoring. Is it realistic or even possible to become a tailor by learning completely on my own? Where do I even start? I have 0 aspirations to work for anyone as a tailor, I'd just like...

    My first real vintage purchase!

How do the shoulders feel? I'm trying to get an idea (visually) of how 30s/40s suits look when you lift up your arms. I hear they don't pull up the whole suit like they do these days.

What to wear with a fedora....

Hi everyone, I'm a college student trying to not fit into the typical college look. I love fedoras, but going to a party and walking around campus in a full suit doesn't appeal to me. I have found that matching summer clothing with straw fedoras is relatively easy and looks decent, but I'm...

Looks great Paddy. You can even tell from the pictures that the wool is pretty heavy.

    Fabrics for Cold Weather Suits?

Ah now that I looked back over Magnoli's, that might be a good idea for a double breasted suit, the Washington Double Breasted looks nice.

    Fabrics for Cold Weather Suits?

From the searching I've done, real vintage stuff is extremely hard to find. I have almost no access to vintage stores, and only access to one or two Goodwills. I considered him, but I've read a few threads here that have had serious issues. It would be an option yes, but $500 is still alot...

    Fabrics for Cold Weather Suits?

Damn I'm startin' to give up here on the idea of a 40's style suit...it seems that either it's going to be way too expensive for a college student like me, or if I try from an online place, it won't come out right. :eusa_doh:

    Fabrics for Cold Weather Suits?

What was the style number? The image doesn't work here, and all the file names for their pictures are the same (I dunno how, but they are).

    Fabrics for Cold Weather Suits?

Doesn't look like that place carries Tweed for any fabrics, but they do have flannel. As for the cut, they have options in further menus for whatever their standard cut is, and a "British Canvas" construction. From the description it sounded like older methods of putting together suits. Would...

    Fabrics for Cold Weather Suits?

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about buying my first suit from mycustomtailor.com. They have an array of fabrics to use, but I have no idea what to have my suit made in. Here's a link: http://mycustomtailor.com/fabrics.php?styleID=9593 Which would be closest to what was worn in the 40s and...

What kind of casual, summer clothing can be worn with white fedora?

Well I think I found an outfit that will work. I'm wearing a black polo that complements the black band nicely, I think. I dunno, the thing with just wearing anything with a fedora is that it seems like it makes you tend to look silly, or like it is out of place.

What kind of casual, summer clothing can be worn with white fedora?

Hi everyone, I just ordered a white fedora, but I'm having trouble figuring out an outfit to wear it with, that will be suitable for summer. Everything just looks like it might be too silly or embarrassing. Ugh, maybe it's me. Anyway, I'm thinking maybe white shorts, and a colored polo...

New User, with lots of question :)

OK well, cowboy's account apparently got suspended, so I never heard back from him. Anyone else live in the Southeastern PA area? BTW, seems like it's really hard to find vintage jackets/blazers in my size (36R).
