    Show us what you've made!

I have a pleater, well two infact! One fits most oldish Singer machines and the other is for my Janome 6600 so it's throughly modern! They tend to be called rufflers now but I think you can still get some that will fit lots of machines. I don't know why they call them rufflers, they do...

    Etsy

It seems there's more and more people complaining of non paying customers recently. It's quite discouraging in ways. Hopefully the new measures they're bringing in will make it happen less...

    Show us your vintage patterns!

This one makes me wish I suited that style, I sadly don't though. Well done on getting it!

Show Us Vintage Gifts You've Received

I didn't get anything retro this year for a gift, I normally get some jewellery at least! I'm glad some of you got some really pretty things though!

Hi! I'm not new, but I've never been a very active member, more of a lurker really! I'm just about to give up my full time job as it's taking up too my much my life and taking a couple of months off, so I'm anticipating MUCH more time here and more posting. So, hello again to everyone...

    Modern and repro hats

I actually just did a millinery course with her in London! She had come over from Italy for the week to be a student on it at London College of Fashion. She's a lovely girl and obviously very talented and creative. This is an interesting thread to read as off the back of that course I'm...

    What is your eye color?

Mine are blue, but a grey blue. As I get older they are going more grey too, when I was a child they were a strong turquiose blue!

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

I think because you're out of the ordinary you become an object and not a person. I've just moved to London and it's giving me some confidence back after it was very bruised with some not so nice comments when I lived in Cambridge (lots of nice too, but the bad ones stick longer!). Now I...

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

Having just discovered that a MAC shop has opened up in Cambridge (too bad it is only two days until I move to London!) I went in and tried a few lipsticks. I'm now a Russian Red lover :eusa_clap it's definately more flattering for my teeth!

    Perm Pics

Sounds like a great way to con people into getting your hair cut more often! I think it just seems like it grows faster as you're aware of the root growth if the perm is tight or the hair is really straight.

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

I will be doing that, I just need suggestions first as I find make up counters mindboggling at times because of the sheer volume of choice! MAC counters seem few and far between outside of London, but luckily I'm moving there in two weeks so I'll be spoiled then ;)

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

Can anyone suggest a slightyly orangey red for me? Only a slight orange tinge though. I love Ruby Woo but I smile with it on and my teeth look disgusting as they aren't very white, typical British teeth I'm afraid!

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

I've found that pre-curving bias tape helps with really tight corners. I use my nails to start stretching it around the curve (folding it the way it will be on the fabric) then get my steam iron out and use the steam to help it further. If that fails I use a narrower tape!

    What is a sponge bag?

I quite often use sponge bag instead of toiletry bag as it's what my gran always said. Dobb kit is new to me though!

    For the seamstresses out there...

*How long have you been sewing? In one way or another, 30 years *How did you learn to sew? I guess it was my mum initially, but since the very early days of learning to put the needle in and out of the fabric, it was school and college. *What was the first project you made that you...
