One of our customers has a 1944 US Cavalry horse hide trench coat without a belt. Would it be in order to ask if anyone has pictures of the belt buckle ? Coat is chocolate brown, "blanket" lining. We have not seen it yet. I'd like to get as close to the original as possible, but the coat is a "wearer" not a "displayer" so strict authenticity may not be essential. We have not come across one of these before so our usual sources are not being too helpful.

I'm glad that "strict authenticity" is not essential. Like yourself I've never come across one of these before. I'd be rather cautious.

As I said, this belongs to a client. These coats are known to be out there but they are very rare. I will (with the owner's consent) try to post some pictures when (if) it gets to me.
