A little honesty about quality, please

For Christmas I decided to get my beloved monogrammed handkerchiefs. Long story short my first two choices did not pan out and I went with a set of 3 Brooks Brothers Irish linen handkerchiefs. I found it quite appropriate as he works there. The hitch is they do not monogram their linen handkerchiefs, only their cotton, so I'm left to find my own monogramming services. My questions are as follows:

1) Honestly, what kind of quality am I going to be seeing when they arrive as opposed to other more authentic Irish linen?

2) Has anyone had positive experiences with having a linen handkerchief monogrammed?

I can't offer an opinion on the quality of BB"s linen hankys per se, but the overall quality of their goods seems to be increasing, though still recovering from the M&S debacle.

As for monogramming, I've had both hand and machine work done and while I appreciate the artisanal qualities of the handwork, it's just too expensive. I would go with machine work from a reputable establishment.

I would add that there are online sources for well priced vintage linen goods, some monogrammed, some not.

I have no monogramming experience, but I do own the Brooks linen 3-pack. I use them as pocket squares, and have been quite pleased with them.
