One of my friends is going as Zombie Goulet to a party tonight.

Upon first hearing that, I was a bit horrified, but then thought about how the man himself would have perceived it. He seemed to enjoy self-parody quite a bit, so I don't see any real harm in it now.

Another sad day for me. It's one sad day after the other.

Truly a sad passing but he had such a generousity of spirit. I think he may be smiling down on us.

In my head I can hear him singing this song from Bye Bye Birdie

Gray skies are gonna clear up
Put on a happy face
Wipe of the clouds and cheer up
Put on a happy face

Take of the gloomy mask of tragedy
It's not your style
You'll look so good that you'll be glad
That you decided to smile

Pick out a pleasant outlook
Stick out that nobel chin
Wipe off that full of doubt look
Snap on a happy grin

Spread sunshine all over the place
And just put on a happy
Put on a happy face

Gray skies are gonna clear up
Put on a happy face
Wipe off the clouds and cheer up
Put on a happy face

Take of the gloomy mask of tragedy
It's not your style
You'll look so good that you'll be glad
That you decided to smile

Pick out a pleasant outlook
Stick out that noble chin
Wipe off that full of doubt look
Snap on a happy grin

Spread sunshine all over the place
And just put on a happy
Put on a happy face

That's so sweet... it is sweet!!!!!
But it's useless, I'm gloomy today. It's the inevitability of life that gets me. [huh] :(

Now I'll always remember those silly commercials (I think it was for nuts), about having Robert Goulet sneaking up on you in the afternoon.

He was successful, enjoyed his life, explored his talent, and made contributions to enrich others' lives. In the "inevitibility of life", I'd say he made the most of it.

When you're gloomy Hadley, just start singing "Hakuta Matata" lol :D

RIP Robert Goulet

Robert Goulet was pretty funny.

Anyone who can be on the Simpsons and sing at Bart's tree house casino, and do the Emerald Nuts commercial has to have a good sense of humor.

I've seen Goulet many times in Vegas and in summer stock performances of Camelot, The Fantasticks, and South Pacific with the beautiful Barbara Eden. Many folk labeled this gent as a second rate "lounge singer', but he had a truly powerful baritone and was a gifted singer.

A one of a kind enertainer, that will be missed.

That wasn't one of his songs! That one belonged to Dick Van Dyke.

In my head I can hear him singing his trademark song from Camelot~
"If Ever I Would Leave You"
The words are truly bittersweeet now that he's gone.

If ever I would leave you it wouldn't be in summer.
Seeing you in summer I never would go.
Your hair streaked with sun-light, Your lips red as flame,
Your face with a lustre that puts gold to shame!

But if I'd ever leave you, it couldn't be in autumn.
How I'd leave in autumn I never will know.
I've seen how you sparkle When fall nips the air.
I know you in autumn And I must be there.

And could I leave you running merrily through the snow?
Or on a wintry evening when you catch the fire's glow?

If ever I would leave you, how could it be in spring-time?
Knowing how in spring I'm bewitched by you so?
Oh, no! not in spring-time! Summer, winter or fall!
No, never could I leave you at all!

Farewell Mr. Goulet! :eusa_clap
