Silverbellys are notoriously hard to capture the color of in a photograph. I don't even try. Sometimes they look more tan, sometimes more grey. The only way to get a truly accurate picture is to handle one yourself. ;)

This is decently representative of the color, albeit a bit dark. There's only so much you can do with an iPhone camera.

This one looks more grey.

That's Silverbelly? It might be the lighting, but it looks very, very...peachy, salmon, sand...something like that. I heard the Silverbelly wasn't really "silver", but damn!

The silverbelly I owned was very chameleon like, took on colors from my surroundings. Mine had yellow and peachy undertones most of the time.

Hey, nobody minds if they post a shot of a moonstone Stylemaster (if you have one) on their head, right? Particularly facing straight at the camera or cell phone, whatever you may use... I would really appreciate this, as it would allow me to get an idea of the taper, especially with that moonstone color. I'm actually entertaining the idea of a fedora with a slight amount of taper, at this point.

I find fedoras with slight amounts of taper quite attractive. Super Bonus Points if the crown is kinda rounded. My Akubra Squatter has exactly this type of crown, and it is currently my favorite hat. DavidMorgan also offers the Squatter in Moonstone. Taper with straight lines isn't flattering, at least on me, but if it's rounded, well hell that's a great look.

Here's the Squatter, showing what I mean by "rounded taper":

I didn't get a new one, I just chopped up the green one and used some bad lighting...thanks though. lol

I'm a little surprised to see you saying it's the green one. It looks very... brown, under that sort of lighting, I suppose.

Agreed. It is actually a very nice color.

Green and yellow are important components of brown. Thus, a green hat under dim yellow lighting coupled with the iphone camera feature equals a sickly brown hat.

It is a perfect, rich green color.
Here is a different pic, under a cloudy sky. Note that my damn camera washes the hat out a bit, but the green color is just...well I can only describe it as perfect.

This before-trim pic of the Squatter under direct sunlight most closely resembles the color, although again, the actual color is a bit richer:

I hoped this helped, JB, and thank you all for the compliments. It's getting late now, sweet America. This is John Henry Eden, your President, signing off.

Thank you sir. It's always encouraging to hear that I didn't completely botch my first attempt at modification. :)

I agree, it looks good!

Randy

P.S I still owe you a sunlight shot of my Tawny Fawn! sorry, I've not had much time to get on here for a few days.

lol I understand. I myself am just lazing around at home until I head back to college in a couple of weeks. As such I'm pretty much on the Lounge all the time (I like learning.......well, only about things I'm interested in). You take your time...

...Is it a Tawny Fawn Federation IV or a Taupe Fawn Campdraft? My memory fails me as to what hat you're speaking of...

Federation IV. Here's the promised shot... note the hat is still unbashed. I just haven't taken the time to work on it.

That's a great color. I ordered a Taupe Fawn Campdraft last night (after chopping down the Squatter, I need a weather hat...at least that's my story!). I really, really like the dark brown ribbon and bow contrasted with the Tawny, it really does look amazing. Thank you for the photo.

As for JB, I'm not sure if you've seen this photo, but it is a full frontal shot of the Acorn Fawn Akubra Stylemaster. It looks like a really cool hat. I'll keep looking for more.

This one's at an angle, but I think the model is pretty, so what the hell: http://www.chapelstreet.co.nz/images/SMaster.jpg

This man has attempted a rebash of the Stylemaster's factory bash. Somewhat of an upshot, but the hat's lookin' good: http://joeltunnah.com/hats/stylemaster_redo03.jpg

If anyone is uncomfortable with me posting these pics, tell me and I'll delete the link. For now though, I hope this helps, J.B.

Here's an almost frontal shot of a grey Akubra Capricorn, which I've been told is nearly identical to the Stylemaster in shape and dimensions: http://mongoose.smugmug.com/photos/532254366_v6xAa-M-1.jpg

Thanks, it's really rich looking in sunlight. Even though the bow's a bit wonky, I've decided to leave it as is for now, I think I'm gonna just make it a semi-beater.

Well, it's not straight ahead, but it is a moonstone Stylemaster. I really like mine!

That's my buddy Goose and I hate to tell you but, that's not a Capricorn. It's an Akubra, but it's called a "Hayman". It has a narrower brim than the Capricorn. :)

Alright, Thanks Chuck. I got that pic after running a search, so I guess I'll delete that link. Thank you for catching that. I thought it looked a little small...
