Just ordered a Sydney in Regency Fawn from David Morgan. Excited to get it as it will be my first new felt hat. All others have been vintage.
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. I finally got around to posting some pics of my Campdrafts on the Campdraft thread (link below), and here are my other Akubras - a Plainsman and a Lightning Ridge...

I'm a Brit and I moved to Australia about six months ago. You definitely need some good hats here - especially if you're a slaphead with pale blue skin, like me
I bought an Akubra Warrego too which I'm planning to have altered with a wider ribbon, binding, and a curled brim edge. When I get it done I'll post some pics.
Where did you get the Warrego? I'd like one for the summer in Sand
You picked a great place to start.
You can't go wrong with Akubra. I have eight now and they are all great!
Let us know how you like the Sydney.

Well, my Sydney arrived a few days ago. It was a little delayed because of the storm Seattle got. I don't know if I'm qualified for a review, but I will say that I really like it. It's not as soft as I expected it to be. It's held my dry bash just fine. Maybe it's just my bash, but it doesn't seem to have as much taper as I expected either. The sweatband is very soft and comfortable. Also, the color is a nice shade that can go from a dark brown to almost an olive green depending on the light. My only qualms is a small blob of glue visible near the bow the rear of the brim curls up a little too much for my usual tastes. But I'll take care of that with some steam.
This first picture is probably closest to the actual color, but like I said, I've noticed it shifts depending on the light.

Looks good. You did a good job on the bash too. Did you put in a C-crown or a center dent.
Waiting . . . waiting . . .![]()

Well my new Sydney came in on Friday and I would have to say that your review pretty much nailed it garenb.
I find the hat's crown is very similar in texture and feel as the Christy's Foldaway I picked up from a fellow lounger. I was able to get it to hold a nice center crease and side dents without too much efort. It does however have a stiff snap brim which I like. Nice chocolate milk shade of brown. Not to much taper so I still get that vintage feel from the hat. Been wearing it around town the last few days and I am pleased with my purchase.
