What should I use to lubricate the zipper on my B-3 jacket?

Wax works well. I also use pencil lead. I tend to use my pencil tip with a long lead as grime remover, and then I try to go over the pencil with a new thick black over the teeth again. Lastly, I use a small brush to remove all the pencil lead dust. This pencil lead lubricant is also available in containers. Boeshield T-9 in a drop applicator is what I use on everything, it dries like a wax and leaves a robust film that doesn’t transfer.

I purchased this Schott 594 Buffalo Leather and seller said it was about 5-6 years old. I ended up buying otter wax leather salve and used that first, then finished it with otter wax leather oil. Here’s the before and after. Also a question, how do I get rid of the excess salve? I tried heating and removing and it did not work

Rub it with gauze cloth.

Question for US residents about ordering outerwear from tariffed countries:

I’m seeing some sellers bumping up their prices and stating up-front that this is because they are paying the tariffs on anything they send to the US. But I’m also seeing some retailers who are not changing their prices and not mentioning the changes. Maybe they just haven’t updated their sites, is one possibility. But I’m worried about placing an order and then getting hit with the tariff once it lands here. Has anyone had that experience, in the last few weeks?

I would not worry about it. If it is something you want just get it. The tariff is out of your control. If it is out of your price range then look for something else. Unless you feel it is something you can not live without. So if it is a life or death purchase pay the tariff and get on with your life.

Yep, part of owning quality leather boots!

My very first time I wore my Nick's Tanker boots out (to church) I managed to get a nice, deep scratch in the heel area. I was a bit frustrated, but said - "Well, that's done, now I can wear them."

Did you have any luck with this?

I ask as I treated a couple pair of White's boots with "Aussie" boot treatment compound and it had a similar, briny-almost "pickled" top finish that was really sticky. So I used the boots on a neighbor's farm for a day and got them quite dusty, then wiped it all off with a cloth and very sparing amount of saddle soap.

** I do not recommend doing that to your jacket...!

There are two types of offers.
The first and most common is that the seller calculates his price and usually includes the local VAT. If you then order it from abroad, tariffs and VAT from your country are added on import. Sometimes you pay the VAT twice. Once in the seller's country (if they don't deduct it beforehand) and once in your own country when importing.

The second, rarer variant is that the seller already covers everything in advance and gives you the final price including customs duty and VAT for your country and also pays this in advance. If everything goes well, there are no extra costs on import because the seller has already paid for everything. I can't say what happens if customs duties are increased during shipping. But it is quite possible that there may then be additional charges.

Of course, it is also possible that prices are increased because the seller is affected by the tariffs when he purchases his raw materials. In this case, he will also increase prices, regardless of how he sells them on.

Lots of things available. Look for motorcycle, horseback riding, archery, shooting sports gear. Ironheart, Schaefer Outfitters, Outback trading, STS ranchwear,Sitka gear.
They have longer arms for reaching. Go up one size in anything and the sleeves are 1" longer. Large is one inch longer than medium.
If you are tall do a Google search for tall men apparel.
Also brands that focus on skiiing or climbing have longer sleeves and are designed for more range of motion. Such as Arcteryx, Fjallraven.

I recently purchased a 70s or 80s Lesco and love the leather but hate the polyester lining. Are there any reasons why I shouldn't remove the liner and just wear the jacket unlined?

Also, are there better and worse ways to remove the liner?

I had placed a made to order leather jacket order from Aero in early March before the new tariff situation. I received it 2 weeks ago and had to pay a customs fee of around $245. Last year I had bought 2 jackets from Aero and the customs fees I paid then were $78 and $92 for comparison.
