Maybe the writer meant that Maria was the last survivor of the family's ordeal during the war. The brother was born in the US after the war. Just a guess.

  2. Reread the news article...it clearly states...
Maria von Trapp was the last surviving member of the seven original Trapp Family Singers made famous in "The Sound of Music."

I was saddened to read Harold Ramis passed away. Harold has an impressive resume in writing, directing, producing, and acting.
Groundhog Day is one of my favorites.

Saw Last Year in Marienbad back in the 60s when I was about 15. Blew my mind, and permanently changed the way I perceive reality. Great artist.

A true American Hero from the Greatest Generation. William “Wild Bill” Guarnere, a member of the famed “Easy Company” of the 101st Airborne Division, died on March 8 at the age of 90. Guarnere, who lost a leg while aiding a fellow wounded soldier at the Battle of the Bulge, was awarded the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts for his military service and remained active in veterans’ organizations for more than six decades.

Knew the face but didn't know his name. He was a staple on after New's TV comedy. Another old school comedian.
