Does anyone have more info on this rare vintage Schott jacket?

I just bought this Schott 184I jacket on ebay for $400. I've never see anything like it that matches this exact spec with the espresso brown naked cowhide leather. Does anyone have more info on this? I emailed Schott's customer service email, and they confirmed that it's really a 184I produced in 2010 and is essentially the same as the 184sm model, but they didn't have any further information. I'm a huge history nerd, so I want to know everything about this special piece.

Very rare jacket, last one I saw being sold was 2years ago, wasn't in as good condition as yours, it sold for $1600.,I would ask for $1800 ,if you ever thought of selling :)
Hey Peter, thanks for the reply!

I genuinely love everything about this jacket, so it would be very difficult to part with and I don't plan on selling it as of now. However, I'm certainly not a collector and I think I would also be happy with a regular 184sm in similar condition.

Does anyone have more information on what makes this model special?

Those were popular in the 80s. I purchased one in 1983. I used to called it the bear because I replaced the mouton and vest with the real deal 40s mouton instead. It was a cool jacket. It got stolen in Pamplona during the San Fermines. However, I was able to track down the rateros and a good as whooping happened. I also purchased it several times more in the last 30 years. Last time I paid about $200 about 4 years ago.

It looks identical to my 184sm except yours has a pocket on the faux fur liner. Does it have a pocket in the inside liner as well? The sm does not have any inside pockets.

Also, my sm has a yellow liner.

I can't tell from the photos if the leather is the same and I haven't examined the photos closely for small design changes - but cursorily the design looks the same.

So it's pretty much just the pocket?

Look closely, "Schott Bros" appears to be stamped into the leather on the left ****** area. I also thought the pocket on the faux leather was interesting!

Looks like a garden variety civi Schott flight jacket? Embroidery tells me that’s an 80’s jacket. I see these all the time.
Thanks for your response ton312 :)

You might be able to find brown 184sm and 684MS jackets commonly, but I'll give you $20 if you can show me an exact match to this one. You're right about the civi flight jacket part though, it's made with a softer naked cowhide leather.

The jacket is cool. The leather of those are nice and soft and a very wearable jacket. I true honesty, I am not a fan of any leather jacket with a name brand showing. Schott did it sometimes with a tag on the front lower pockets in some designs. Just because it brings me great memories, I prefer the tan lining. At any rate, the jacket design was used by Kurt Russel in the thing. His had a different, simpler back but pretty much the same jacket. Both designs are cool in my book.

The Thing is one of Kurt Russell's best performances, and the iconic jacket is so perfect for his character! One of my favorite sci-fi movies easily

Here is a link for an older thread on the 674 and 174g https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/vintage-schott-“i-s-674-m-s-bomber-jacket.111469/

They live and Starman movies Schott models were also used. Personally, the Schott 184sm is the better design of them all due to the back and removable items. For me, any of them will do. However, I took that 184 all over Africa and Europe. Had a blast and wearing that jacket brings back memories. Back in the day, the 184 was extremely popular in Italy, where I spent one year working.

By the way, K. is wearing a Californian that is one of MY grail jackets. Sadly, it is nearly impossible to find one in my size.
