I have just gotten them off a dead laptop...so this was 2002 if I am remembering correctly.

...great photos. Thank goodness there are a lot of museums around the world that have some of these old warbirds preserved. It's sad to think how many thousands of these planes -- many completely airworthy -- were scrapped out or left to deteriorate.

BTW, when the big PowerBall lottery got up north of $300M, my wife and I reached an agreement that if we won I'd buy her a stone castle in England and she'd let me install a grass strip on the grounds sufficient for a Spit IX, P-51, P-47, P-38, etc. (Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?)

I've always loved those P-40s with the shark's mouths painted on them.
I have GOT to get to Wright Patterson airforce base as it's not very far from me, and they have like,everything aviation there. And it's free admission too I hear!
