WoweeWowWOW! My hat's (literally) off to the my fellow artists on this board. Especially to Gene and Cat. Cat, do you use a particular filter to get that fantastic pastel effect? Also, do you take commissions? My contribution to this awesome thread is a large version of my avatar picture. I'm not entirely happy with the way the hat turned out. I guess I'll just have to keep at it until I get it right!
Just discovered this thread--fantastic work, HPG! I particularly love the Stevie Ray work...very nice! Steve
Digo, amazing work...very cool images here. What talent! ThesFlishThngs, love this sketch--great lines. Go ahead and compete! Steve
:arated: Ronin, I don't use filters.. it's the behaviour of the particular painting tools in Corel-Painter.. I try to paint as transparantly as long as I have to (I think in analog painting it's called 'glacing', just like the old masters used to do and like I used to do before going digital) working from dark to light.. The pastel effect is a result of the 'dry-brush' I use lol lol It's fun messing around without getting messy
Had been skipping over this thread, been too busy! However I have to re-iterate some people's comments, there are some very skilled people here - particularly Gene, cat & roninjedi. So, inspired I thought I'd give it a go, only had some paper, a biro, a mirror and 5 minutes to hand as I haven't really drawn since I finished art classes 12 years ago to go with computer science instead. Anyway this is what I managed.
Merry x-mass in Tokyo I thought, let's bump this thread.. the holidays asks for some christmas-doodles..
May all your wishes come true!! edit. I thought there was something wrong with his right hand.. not that this is a big improvement haha, ehm.. hohoho (after all, it's still a doodle)
