Well this is my first REAL hat, this should look much nicer than the two Wool Fedoras I have:

http://www.thefedorastore.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=DPC-F13

Got the Grey one, my Lodge is mostly Jewish, and "Black Hats" have a totally different conotation in the Jewish community than they do in the Western, Cowboy Films.

Gonna do it, all you Masons out there, you can come to my Lodge when we have jump up day in 2007 and comment on my work and my hat.

Hope I measured my head right.:D

Yankee Doodle

Keep the feather in the ribbon. Be a rebel.:D

:eek:fftopic:

Yankee Doodle

Why did yankee doodle stick a feather in his hat and call it macaroni? Back in Pre-Revolutionary America when the song "Yankee Doodle" was first popular, the singer was not referring to the pasta "macaroni" in the line that reads "stuck a feather in his hat and called it macaroni". "Macaroni" was a fancy ("dandy") style of Italian dress widely imitated in England at the time. So by just sticking a feather in his cap and calling himself a "Macaroni" (a "dandy"), Yankee Doodle was proudly proclaiming himself to be a country bumpkin, because that was how the English regarded most colonials at that time. But times have long since changed, and it is important to reflect on the fact that despite the turbulent early relationship between England and the American colonists, our two countries are strongly united.

A feather Rebel for sure!!!

Have seen Scala's too and admired them as well, was not thinking, "Scala" when I bought it, must have been in my sub-con mind.:)

Thanks for the positive feed back gang!! Will send a picture of the hat and me soon. Well as soon as possible, my internet at home is retro-dial up!!

Hey Brother,

What is the most common hat style worn by the Master in your Lodge?
When I was Master in '97 I was the first to wear a felt fedora in years.
The most common was the tweed style hat and of course the western style.

here is a sample

The current and most recent past master wears/wore a Stetson, with a feather, and I think it is a Stratoliner, as I think I remember seeing an airplane on the band. Almost black, raw edge. One sharp hat.

One recent master wore a Tri-Corner, most wore what I think is called a "Tribly"?

A Cowboy would be acceptable here in Atlanta, but it would cause a lot of looks and talk. My lodge in Alabama? Saddle up!

If I am in the East next year, I will have a Boater for summer and fedora's for the rest of the year.

Looks like a Bear Bryant original, Roll Tide!!

A Boater

You might want to check in with Panama Bob and consider a nice Panama instead of a boater. I just got my "Bogey" model in the mail today. Only problem with it is that this is only January and I can't wear it yet.:D
