I looked up Stonum Bros., Gainsville, TX and it appears they were into marketing tricks even in 1890/1891 using vertical ads and ads using a lot of white space so their ad would stand out on the page.

Also 1948...usually you see these from hatters...not from bars. Now I went full Bob Hufford on this one as it intrigued me.
