Hi everyone,

I’d appreciate your help verifying whether this Filson flannel shirt is original or not.
I recently came across it and want to make sure it’s authentic before buying it.

Unsure about the label, fabric weight, and overall construction, so any insight from Filson owners or collectors would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I wouldn't know anything about these but even if it is a fake, they certainly seems to have sourced a good fabric.
the guy added this suede jacket made in mexico. It looks nice but I don't now is this a quality leather.

Filson has been sourcing their flannels outside the USA for quite some time now. Also, the black tags appeared after the company was bought out. At this point a large % of their products are made in locations other than what the company was known for.

Thank you. Is the quality significantly down as well?

I do not have firsthand experience enough to make that sort of claim.

I still have Made in US wool coat and overshirt, and one pair of double-knee pants made in Sri Lanka. Two tee-shirts made in US. Frankley, I prefer shirts made by Freenote Cloth, overall.

I was going to say thats an older label, so I wouldn't expect to find one for sale on current websites.

I've never come across any fake Filson shirts myself. I do remember a couple of years ago eBay was flooded with fake Filson wax short cruiser Jackets.

Filson has been trying to find its way for a while now. They've been bought out (probably more than once), and had a few heads. I've been to the factory numerous times over the decades, and they really seemed to lose the thread in the teens. They dropped a lot of their stand-by pieces, and filled the racks with imported shirts and jeans so unremarkable that you'd think you were at Costco. They changed management around quite a bit, and even brought in some fashion guy from New York that tried to change the brand into Kenneth Cole. He didn't last long. As much of a Filson booster as I am, there are probably quite a few items floating around that would probably be a better garment if they actually were counterfeit. They had a 'manly man' showroom for awhile that was an attempt at going back to their roots, but 500$ hand forged hatchets wasn't really the right move either.

What's your opinion on the one I posted? Still good or low quality?

Don't know. Sorry if I actually muddied the waters here. My point was that it would be difficult to say if it was legit or not as there has been so much variablilty of stock in recent years. It certainly looks good from the pictures. Unless you are paying an ungodly amount for it, I wouldn't overthink it.
