Hi new here. Is wearing a leather jacket basically an invitation for trouble?

As many have already said... a jacket is an inanimate object... they can't have an "attitude". The man or woman INSIDE the jacket gives the attitude... Living as long as I have I've learned that a certain "presence", if correctly utilized can forestall most problems, even in the sketchiest of hoods...

Is that a Kangol you’re wearing, Mr. Worf? Love your profile pic btw. Sam Jackson killed it in that movie!

I joined a local raw denim discord, on and off I rarely post my WDYWT pic there, but one time when I posted, some other member I don't know asked if I frequent walk around this campus area nearby, and I do, because across that campus is where I buy my grocery, so random people do remember me, and I guess a big part of it because I wear leather jacket

In all honesty to the OP, leather jackets (particularly biker jackets) stand out on guys. Back in NY, during jacket season, I sometimes used to look, on purpose, whether guys on the street in NY Metro area are wearing leather. Nope. Nobody (statistically speaking of course, I am sure very few guys wore it, just not where I was looking). So if some a holes are just looking for trouble, if you stand out in your leather jacket, they are going to get in your face, not the guy next to you who is wearing North Face. Likely? No, but leather does stand out. Not on women though, which is funny. Tons of biker jackets on chicks.

it ages you, or at least put you into retro kind of person, especially if you also wear leather boots then youngsters would think you don't know what smartphone is, if you wear leather jacket but wear sneakers then it makes you a bit more approachable

Jeez, you are built like a tank!! No one will pick a fight with you, regardless of your leather jacket.

See, exactly! You know what I mean then. Double riders on women looks normal, not outta place. On guys, for whatever reason looks off. From my observations in day to day, many men who sport leather are trying to act tough it have stand off demeanor, almost as to live up to the leather jacket history/legacy. I definitely don't want to fall into this mindset-- trap, if you will.

No leather boots for this guy. I will wear with dark brown or black casual sneakers if anything. The leather boots would be too much imo, if it matches the jacket.

This thread has to be the greatest since trucker shorts and I for one genuinely appreciate it.
Oh man! And hereI had forgotten all about trucker shorts!
I remember being insecure about stepping outside in my first Cross zip because I felt a bit like a poser. I never for a minute thought that someone might want to fight me over it though.

To the OP - a few times you have referred to cross zips as "double riders" jackets. This is something many of us here in FL are trying to rid the world of. It's a Cross Zip. Just using better terminology :)

And yes, I do wear matching leather boots, and even *gasp* non-matching leather boots with my jackets.

That's all. Nothing else. Except maybe if combined with the rest of that vintage ensemble, than it says you're one of those 50's Rockabilly / vintage clothes aficionados which also isn't an invitation for trouble though it kind of might be because that's some serious nerd territory.

HAHAHAHAHA you can't be serious! a) given that comment was made on a site that was founded on the premise of interest in vintage "Golden Era" clothing and style, and b) I don't know what the rockers/rockabillies are like in your corner of the world, but here they eat skinheads for breakfast. Some bad hombres to mess with.
