Stefan, Fantastic Find! I am not sure I have seen a Wegener with liner pipping. Also congrats on the other finds!
Hopefully this will secure my position in the Homburg Nation. I have an entry level black Dobbs but my mentor, Stefan, has seen fit to allow this gray Echter Mayser to change addresses. She is a beauty. 4 3/4 center creased crown, 1 3/4 ribbon (it is dark but I think it is dark gray, not black), and a 2 1/4 curled brim. The sweat seems a bit fragile so perhaps I'll look inside with a mirror at another time. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
Randy, that is one nice Mayser Homburg. Your position in the Homburg Nation was never in doubt. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
Residency in the nation firmly in place, Randy. Looks very good on you. It has a label, which is this one:
So here it is.. my first Homburg Lord Kent Beaver 15 This black hat has about a 2” brim and just under a 5” crown with 1 7/8 black ribbon I don’t have much idea about age or know anything about this brand... but it looks nice and the felt takes a pinch readily. For the inside... the sweatband looks in nice shape and happened to have the initials FM which were my grandfathers initials. So that was a cool coincidence. The back of the size 7 tag is United hatters union tag. Which I believe is what is also printed on the felt under the sewn copper liner. I agree with Steur’s suggestion that a pinch helps make it go a bit more casual.. though it looks good either way. I wore it the other day with a vest and nicer shirt... and much to my surprise it looked great with this V-neck today. Best, Joe Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Nice looking first Homburg, Joe. Great shape to it. First of many perhaps? Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
I think it's a splendid hat, Joe. Nice, classic and solid homburg. You'd be surpised to find out how many people recognize that as a sign you take your hats seriously.
Thanks.. this hat is growing on me. I am curious what the age of this one could be. Couldn’t find that much info on this brand. Best, Joe Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Great look, Bill. You should definitely wear it more often from now on. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
I am being offered this brown Disney Fifteen for $100. I don’t have any experience with Disney so I’m asking y’all. I think it 1950s? Good price?
Bill, this is just my 2 cents worth, and I don't have any experience with Disney either, apart from the wonderful ones I've seen on the FL that is. If that were my size, I'd buy it for $100. No idea what they usually go for in the U.S. It has a fine Homburg shape to it. Looks like it would look the part with pinches or without (always a plus for me). A brown Homburg or two is a must in any Homburg collection. I really like the ribbon treatment. The liner and sweatband are in very good condition. Liner logo lettering says 50s to 60s to me. In short, I'd buy it Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
I'd be inclined to buy it at that price, having no direct experience with Disney either. It looks to be in good shape and I'd think you could recover most if not all of your money if it didn't work out.
