My collection of vintage wool jackets is about to go up to 6 View attachment 641171 View attachment 641172
I'm up to a 10 in envy! Beautiful jackets. You know my admiration for these short wool half-belts. The brown jacket seems similar to a Hercules I own. Your jacket is an old one. There is a date on those grommet zippers, just look. It is small. 2 numbers the second is year. The second appears to have a Sunrise Box with the date cade.

The grommet zipper was replaced by the sunrise set up. the used this style for several years. The pulls are exquisite.

I'm excited!

I will look up my brown.

Thanks! I really love maroon/burgundy so I could not pass this one up. I'm very excited!

Unfortunately the zippers are both repros. The originals had to be replaced and the price was appropriate given that fact. He said he believes it's a late 30s or more likely early 40s Sears Hercules and you seem to have a similar thought in mind which makes me excited as I haven't had a Hercules wool yet.

I may have to have the sleeves and body of the brown one shortened. It's already got replacement zippers so I won't feel too bad and it should be an easy job.

Ok, then the brown is mostly likely a Hercules labeled jacket. I recall it is a bit longer. I would not be concerned with a nicely replaced period correct reproduction zipper. Look forward to more.

Thanks for the info! The replacement zipper seems nice. I'm only concerned about the length on me at this point

Mine measures 24 inches in the back. I looked through several Sears catalogs for similar jacket and they are all listed as 30 inches,

Just Beautiful. Could easily be from the 1920s.

This is from the 1928 catalog

Wow incredible! Wouldn’t be surprised if I measured slightly off and it is 30 inches. Thanks for the research

I found a similar jacket in the 1930 Shanhouse catalog. They are listed as 30 inches also. I will get of mine. I was surprised it is that short. A very fitted jacket with a flair. It does need some work.

Nothing right now but am looking for a specific jacket.
The particular jacket I'm looking for is a 1960's Woolrich style 23001 just like this like new example that sold a couple years ago.

I already have one but it's a size too big and has tons of pilling.

This was the first vintage jacket purchase I made, probably 4 years ago and I only paid about $50 for it so I was quite happy.
Before joining TFL it was my favorite jacket and I wore it a ton, then you guys made me care that it was a size too big and I haven't worn it much since.
I've finally decided that I just have to find another in better condition that fits, I need to bring back the joy that this jacket gave me.

I have actually found one in good condition for sale online, but will need to get measurements from the seller then negotiate a price if the measurements check out

Keep it, at least for a while. I had a pair of insanely well fitting white leather pants that I stupidly sold. Decision I regret ever since because I once combo'd them with a white Johnson Leathers cafe racer and it was an outfit that I loved but wasn't mentally ready for. With the Perfecto, it would've been even cooler.
White leather is spectacular but immune to any connotation usually associated with black leather.
Dwelled on this and you’re right.

The jacket doesn’t fit perfectly but it fits pretty well (what made me change my mind is mirror placement. Whenever I stand too close to the mirror the fit looks off, but if I stand a bit farther back, all those slight imperfections are less noticeable)

Don’t know when I’d come across a white perfecto again, and I I wanted a quality white leather jacket, I’d have to pay at least $1k for a new one.

Do you still own the white Johnson?
